The Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad is located in the Swiss community of Schangnau amidst forests, meadows and a breathtaking mountain backdrop. The traditional house dates from the 18th century and guests have been welcomed there since 1834. In the meantime, the hotel has been run by the Reto and Alexandra Invernizzi families in the sixth generation - what started as a spa house has now become a hotel with 30 rooms and a restaurant. One thing has remained until today: proximity to guests, relaxation and social enjoyment. The employees are approachable and the locals also like to tell their own stories. Guests should have a feeling of home and be pampered all around: with good food, high-quality beds and breathtaking nature. The wild and romantic spring area of the Emme is waiting to be explored. The adjacent UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch and its moorland can be walked alone or with a guided tour. The inner courtyard is like an oasis, the rustling of the Emme and now and then a few cowbells can be heard. The perfect place to read a book, have a coffee and relax.

ArchitectureThe listed house was built in wood in the 18th century, and the material is still used today. It also helps with insulation. The furniture is made in Switzerland, some of it is made by a carpenter. In general, people try to use a lot of wood from the region, such as the hotel bar, which was built from driftwood. The Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad works exclusively with local companies and craftsmen. The rooms are all individually and comfortably furnished. A lot of wood was used here, too, which was combined with new elements. The highest level of sleeping comfort was provided in every room. They offer plenty of natural light and a wonderful view: either of the surrounding mountains, the garden or the tranquil courtyard.
FoodThe peculiarity in the restaurant: they try to avoid food waste, which is why guests are served smaller portions, but always with the option of being able to reorder. The food comes from farmers and farmers from the region, paying particular attention to the seasonality of the products. But some ingredients, such as herbs, come from your own garden. In general, a lot of things are prepared in the kitchen, so there is homemade confit in the morning and homemade biscuits are served with coffee in the afternoon. Both vegetarian and vegan dishes are offered. The kitchen is also very familiar with allergies and intolerances and likes to conjure up a delicious menu for every individual case. A popular meal on the menu is: “Müetis style” veal liver, with herbs and garlic, fried in butter, served with crispy Kemmeriboden rösti, garnished with apple slices. For dessert there is "Kemmeriboden-Merängge" (meringue) with the cheese factory Nidle (cream from the cheese factory).
45 people from different nations are currently employed in the Hotel Kemmeriboden-Bad. The familiar working atmosphere means that every employee is allowed to contribute ideas and is therefore always challenged. The integration of foreigners who are allowed to take up their first job in Switzerland is promoted in the hotel. You will receive language courses and automatically learn to speak German while working through communication with your colleagues. Once a year, all employees take part in the Guild Risotto Cooking Day, in which half of the proceeds are donated to people suffering from multiple sclerosis and the other half to families in need from the village.
EnvironmentSustainability is taken into account in every area: In some cases, own green electricity is generated by means of a hydropower plant, cooking is done with an induction cooker and LED light is used.
