House

Frohsinn

Feldberg, Black Forest, Germany

The holiday house Frohsinn has received the name deliberately, because the guests should get exactly this feeling when they enter the typical for the Black Forest house from 1928.

The house invites you in a charming and beautiful way to enjoy a relaxing time, no matter whether the outside is snow or the wildflower meadow is blooming. From the master bedroom, the master bedroom, you have from a small balcony a great view of the valley of the district Feldberg-Falkau, with its small, dreamy train station Altglashütten-Falkau the three-way. From the other rooms you look out onto the garden of the house, which is maintained and kept close to nature. There are terraced lawns that are regularly mowed, as well as slopes with a beautiful wildflower meadow and perennial gardens that provide a home for bees and butterflies. The garden and the terrace may be used at any time.

The location of the house is ideal, because attractive walks and bike rides (mountain bike, road bike, touring bike) in the Black Forest can be started right outside the front door. Also cross-country skiing and alpine skiing can be driven a few meters from the house. The Schwarzenbachlift is located about 600 meters from the house on foot. There are three slopes, including a family run and a sled slope. Other lifts can be easily reached by car or public transport. In addition, there is a ski rental just 50 meters from the house. Bicycles can be rented on site and on request also delivered directly to the house.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house Frohsinn was built in the traditional Black Forest architecture with red hipped roof and petrol green shutters. The colors are also reflected in the interior of the house. The decor is bright and friendly and provide a modern living experience. Above all, it consists of midcentury-vintage furniture combined with modern designer pieces. The furniture was selected specifically for matching and typical for the Black Forest antique pieces, as well as the oak wood bed in the master bedroom. In general, emphasis was placed on the preservation of old pieces of furniture, so, for example, the old doors were restored. Living, dining and kitchen have been merged to create a spacious living area that invites you to linger. All construction work was carried out by local craftsmen as well as by the landlord. In wood processing, local woods were used (eg Black Forest Douglas fir for the terrace). The garden mainly used the rock (gneiss) from the adjacent quarry and recycled paving stones that were laid without sealing.

The employees receive above-average pay and are allowed to work independently. In addition, the "House for Children" in Molledo in Peru is supported by the One World Circle of the home town Oberried in the Black Forest. Haus Frohsinn is a supporting member of BUND and Greenpeace.

EnvironmentAt Haus Frohsinn great value is placed on ecological and sustainable management and life. The garden is holistically cared for according to ecological principles. In addition to the regular care of the sunbathing area, a wild flower meadow will also be preserved which weed killers will never see. When cleaning the house ecological products are used. Electricity is supplied by the Elektrizitätswerke Schönau (EWS), which pursue both the highest ecological and societal ethical principles. The heating is still fuel oil operated, as it still works technically flawless and had to be renewed during the renovation. Guests are informed in the guest folder about energy-saving heating and ventilation behavior. In addition, the caregiver explains the waste separation principles to the guests, who are less familiar with separating garbage.
