All this is available at the Winterfeld Guest House in Bodenmais. Daniel and Stefan have almost completely gutted the building of a former guest house and realized their dream of their own small B&B here, which is designed according to their own style and attitude to life and offers everything they would wish for in accommodation.
The two have gained a lot of professional experience in the star hotel industry and have lived in Berlin for a long time. Now it was time for a change and a move to charming Bodenmais, where they now happily tend perennial beds and sunbathing lawns in the garden and share the large lounge with terrace, which is their favorite room in every season, with their guests in the house. There is reading material and board games and a free bar for all.

Sustainable
ArchitectureWith this old house in the Bavarian Forest, Daniel and Stefan have fulfilled their dream. From the outside, the traditional shape of the building was preserved during the renovation in 2019. But inside it was completely gutted and rebuilt. Of course, according to current sustainability standards with durable materials and energetic insulation. Daniel and Stefan have worked exclusively with regional companies.
FoodMainly regional products are served for breakfast in the Winterfeld. Many of them fair and organic. In order to minimize food waste, guests are asked what they like to eat. Herbs come from our own garden and the best thing is of course the sweet pastries that Stefan bakes fresh every day. From apple banana muffins to incredibly delicious cinnamon rolls, there's something different to enjoy every day.
In Winterfeld, employees from the region are employed and paid above the collective bargaining agreement. Fair working conditions and healthy working hours are important to the owners. Both of them are familiar with the work in the hotel industry from their previous jobs. That's why they pay attention to an informal and relaxed atmosphere. In her small guest house, good togetherness counts. The owners donate privately to smaller projects in the Bavarian Forest and various social institutions.
EnvironmentTo raise environmental awareness, the hosts like to talk to their guests. About the fact that the Winterfeld is a sustainable guest house. That's why the breakfast buffet is not overcrowded but supplemented. That daily room cleaning and towel change is not recommended. And also to protect the environment, there is no printed information, but all information is provided digitally. Or here again very gladly, simply in a personal conversation. And of course energy-saving lamps and water-saving fittings are installed. There is a solar system and sustainable heating. Garbage is separated and recycled.
Well-BeingThe small sauna and the heated whirlpool in the garden in front can be booked exclusively all year round. Tea and cold drinks are available and comfortable loungers with a view of the garden. There is no fitness room, but outside the door the mountain and the forest lure you in for all kinds of sports and exercise or to find peace and harmony with nature.

It takes about two hours to drive from Munich to Bodenmais (183 km). It takes just under 2.5 hours (215 km) from Nuremberg, around 4.5 hours (404 km) from Frankfurt, around 4 hours (397 km) from Leipzig and a good 2.5 hours (189 km) from Salzburg. . The exact address can be found on the website.
With public transport
The nearest ICE train station is in Plattling. From there, take the forest railway to Bodenmais station. With prior notice, there is a free shuttle to the guest house.
