The Warfthof Wollatz is located on the beautiful North Sea coast in Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein. The authentic agricultural business, which grows vegetables according to organic farming guidelines, has a direct connection to the holiday business.
Katinka and York have been passionate hosts in the family-run business since 2005 and have created a comfortable home here with their four children. Based on the original style, they have extensively renovated the old farmhouse from the 1830s over time, including according to ecological guidelines, and created three self-contained apartments. The farm has been hosting holiday guests since the mid-1970s and out of the idea of well-being, they wanted to create self-contained residential units from the previous single rooms in the old family farmhouse in order to be able to offer their guests more comfortable accommodation.
Over the last few years they have expanded the business to include three houses on the farm, two of which have now been completely renovated. There is also the option of camping on two pitches with a view of the swimming pond.
The accommodations are very stylish and lovingly furnished and equipped to a high standard. Bright and friendly, based on the Nordic style, each accommodation is special in itself - whether in beach style, Nordic modern, with nostalgic elements or with an industrial look. The residential units have a bright and friendly atmosphere in common - exposed wooden beams, some clay walls with radiant wall heating and wooden floors included.

ArchitectureThe hosts have given the old charm to the large old farmhouse, which was renovated once in the 1960s, based on images from around 1920. For the external face they restored the arched windows and inside they worked with a lot of clay plaster in combination with wall radiant heating on the walls. The floors are made of wood almost everywhere, typical of farmhouses, and wooden windows were also used during the renovation. Old farm furniture, some of which has been reworked, still finds its place in the residential units. In 2001, the hosts created a swimming pond, which is a huge biotope. When building the playground in the center of the farm, the sustainable material wood was chosen for the large climbing frame with slide and the nest swing. Almost all of the garden furniture is made of wood and the beach chairs are sourced locally. Currently, old bricks have also been used, which the hosts collected during the demolition of an old school in the neighboring village and used to lay the floor in the hallway and fireplace area of the barn holiday home. In addition, we worked with local construction companies on the renovation and did a lot of the work ourselves with the employees.
FoodAt the Warfthof Wollatz there is a small farm shop with a seasonal selection of vegetables from the farm, the farm's own eggs and its own honey. There are also selected soft drinks, beer and wines - exclusively organic. Shared evenings are also regularly offered during the season, where you can enjoy eating freshly caught Büsum crabs by peeling them yourself, try home-picked oysters or taste the local salt marsh lamb while barbecuing together.
The Warfthof Wollatz employs people from the region. Great importance is also placed on training and supporting employees. You can also take advantage of the company's amenities, such as using the wellness oasis, renting certain equipment, using the workshop, vehicles or even the rooms.
EnvironmentThe property has been producing its own electricity since the early 1990s. This comes primarily from the photovoltaic systems or the farm's own small wind system. There are also other wind turbines around the farm. Heating is done with our own wood chip heating system, which is fed with our own waste wood. Two holiday homes are also heated using geothermal energy. The hot water requirement is covered by the wood chip heating system and a solar collector area on the farmhouse roof. The lighting is based on LED technology. The hosts communicate waste separation in their digital guest directory. They offer holiday guests ecological care products, use ecological cleaning products and provide certified products such as toilet paper, baking paper, sponges, etc. in the residential units. They have been driving electrically for years and offer holiday guests a charging station for their electric cars. The hosts have been running the vegetable farm organically according to Bioland guidelines since 1989. Farm tours with field visits take place every week to give guests a better understanding of the topic of agriculture and sustainability. In addition to field vegetables, they grow flowering meadows on over 10 hectares of crop rotation every year, have bee colonies on the farm and create ponds and hedges on the farm to promote biodiversity. They also actively plant bulb-based early bloomers for insects every year and create orchards. They are also a recognized owl-friendly farm.
Well-BeingThere is a sauna house with a relaxation room for the farm guests. The NordseeStil house has its own sauna and the Scheune house has its own hot tub.
