Übersee21

Chiemsee, Bavaria, Germany

Nestled between the magical waters of the Chiemsee, the Tiroler Achen and the indescribably beautiful mountains of the Chiemgau Alps, the hosts Sandra and Armin discovered this beautiful piece of earth with its incomparable location for themselves a few years ago.

The two creative freelancers moved with their son from the south of Munich to their newly chosen home in 2018, bought a charming, older house with potential and brought it to life with a lot of passion and sweat. The Übersee21 holiday loft was created on the first floor of the house and has been rented out since August 2020.

The holiday loft is individually and stylishly furnished in a traditional-modern mix and equipped with high-quality furniture. The accommodation conveys the feeling of a large oasis of well-being, in which the guests can let themselves go after the stresses of everyday life and the journey, without getting used to, and indulge in skilful idleness. If you take a closer look at the loft, you can see the attention to detail and the creative misappropriation of original and high-quality objects for everyday use.

You can find the hosts' favourite recipe to try in the kitchen whispers. And we introduce you to five places around the Chiemsee.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house impresses with its Bavarian-Alpine architecture and is surrounded by a natural garden with an older cedar tree and various plants. It stands gracefully in front of a breathtaking mountain backdrop. In 2020, the apartment was largely renovated with natural materials, old building materials, old roof beams, etc. were used again. Sanded wood surfaces were no longer glazed or varnished, but allowed to turn gray with dignity. The newly purchased timber comes from the local sawmill, which gets the wood from the region. The recycling of old furniture through new remodeling or restoration was a prerequisite for the hosts in order to be able to live sustainability. The gardening as well as all manual work were carried out by local suppliers.

Sandra and Armin are members of the Association for Nature Conservation and the local bee association. They lovingly take care of their own bees and want to pass this on to the guests. Guests can fi nd information on the ethical handling of bees in a booklet. Her work with and for bees was published as a book "Bienen-Basics" by G&U Verlag. The welfare of the animals is the top priority for the hosts and so there are several insect and wild bee hotels at the house, as well as a bat box and nesting aids and feeding places for various bird species. Armin is involved as a bee sponsor for a new beekeeper. The neighborhood lives from advice and mutual support, which is noticeable to the guests as a harmonious place for peaceful and respectful encounters.

EnvironmentWhen the house was renovated, a new, economical gas heating system was installed in combination with wood and the windows are double or triple glazed. Sustainability and recycling are the main goals of Ferienloft Übersee21. For example, only biodegradable cleaning agents are used. The electricity is obtained 100% from a green electricity provider. In addition, the garbage is carefully separated by a system and organic waste is composted in the garden.
