At the Control Tower, a small B&B, guests can expect a unique experience in a stylish, historically significant building. Originally built as an air traffic control center during the Second World War, the tower now impresses with its modernist architecture, reminiscent of a simple, white cube. Today it is a light-filled living space, lovingly restored by hosts Nigel and Claire and set up as a charming bed and breakfast.
Surrounded by original Art Deco furniture, each window offers a different view, often of the spacious garden. The rooms are individually decorated and furnished with period pieces and artwork that capture the style and elegance of the 1930s. The bathrooms are particularly impressive, equipped with colored enamel basins in pink and green.
In the stairwell, the walls have been left in their original wartime condition, and the polished concrete staircase tells the story of the building. Spacious common areas invite you to linger, while the rooms offer a wide variety of options - from a cozy relaxation room for air traffic controllers to a spacious suite in the annex.
The surrounding area of North Norfolk perfectly complements the experience. The wide sandy beaches are perfect for walking and swimming, while a well-developed network of walking and cycling trails open up the picturesque countryside. A local bike hire company delivers bikes directly to the control tower, allowing guests to explore the region with ease.

ArchitectureThe restoration combines contemporary details such as solid wood parquet flooring and 1930s glass light fixtures with a sustainable approach. Old pieces were deliberately reused rather than buying new ones. Custom-made windows preserve the building's historic charm, while their double glazing ensures modern efficiency.
FoodBreakfast at the Control Tower is a delight made from fresh, carefully selected ingredients. Home-grown fruit is used to make delicious compotes, poached fruit and jams. The rest of the breakfast is based on regional products: from locally pressed apple juice, whose glass bottles are returned for reuse, to handmade sourdough bread from the area. Each dish is freshly prepared to order and served with great attention to detail. The breakfast offering is purely vegetarian and vegan, with a special highlight: the fully cooked veggie breakfast. This includes eggs made to order (poached, fried, scrambled or omelette), slow-roasted tomatoes, roasted potatoes, sautéed large mushrooms, baked beans and toasted bread.
The B&B is run with a lot of personal commitment, supported by an independent housekeeper who is often on site and ensures that everything runs smoothly during longer absences. The hosts also attach particular importance to remembering the past. Donations have been collected to build a memorial dedicated to the people who once served at the airfield.
EnvironmentAll B&B rooms are equipped with recycling bins and guests will find natural soaps and eco-friendly toiletries. The breakfast table is enriched with fruit from the garden and carefully selected local produce. Electricity is provided by a green energy provider and only environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. As a member of the local Wildlife Trust, the hosts are also committed to nature conservation. Literature and information about Trust events are available in the lounge to inspire guests and encourage a conscious approach to the environment.
