Sometimes all it takes is the first glance out the window to know: This is the right place for me. At Aunt Anna's in the Austrian Montafon, the view opens up to the imposing Silvretta Mountains. Whether it's with the first coffee in the morning or the last rays of sun in the evening: nature isn't just a backdrop here, but part of the experience.
The original Montafon house was built in 1588 and has been in the family for many generations. The great-great-aunt of the current host was named Anna, and she ran the house as a bed and breakfast from 1950 onwards. It was carefully revitalized in 2021/22, preserving the charm of the old: wood, slate, copper – all carefully selected and crafted. The architecture strikes a balance between tradition and modernity. Old wooden beams have been converted into beds, and the former copper roof now adorns parts of the façade. The new extensions are unfussy and alpine-modern – a stage for what truly matters: well-being and relaxation in nature.
The lovingly managed apartment building is characterized by natural materials, minimalist design, and a sense of security. Three apartments have private panoramic saunas on their terraces. Alternatively, there is a communal sauna area in the basement – equally stylish.
Tante Anna's culinary offerings are regional: Those who like them can have authentic Montafon cheese spaetzle delivered to their apartments, and there are regional drinks in the fridge. Whether hiking, biking, or out in the snow, guests can enjoy pristine nature, sustainable living, and modern design. A place with a panoramic view, a place to come and return.

The original Montafon farmhouse, with its traditional shingle facade, dates back to 1588. Extensions were added in 1969 and 1988. And in 2021/22, the entire building was lovingly renovated. The original architecture was largely preserved and revitalized, but the kitchens and bathrooms were modernized. The exterior was deliberately kept very simple, allowing it to recede into the background and allow the Montafon house to unfold its full potential. This created an interesting contrast between old and new. Almost exclusively local craftsmen were employed in the renovation.
A drinks fridge stocked with organic, regional beverages is available for guests. Freshly prepared Montafon cheese spaetzle is available upon request.
Great emphasis was placed on high-quality, natural materials. Natural wood fiber was used primarily for thermal insulation during the renovation. A geothermal heat pump covers all heating and hot water needs. There is also a photovoltaic system. Old wooden beams were upcycled into beds, and parts of the old, patinated copper roof were used for facade cladding.
Three apartments are currently being equipped with a private sauna on their own terrace, offering panoramic views of the Silvretta Mountains. The other apartments will have a sauna area in the basement.
