On a high plateau in the Chiemgau Alps, 950 meters above sea level, the Frasdorfer Hütte nestles comfortably in lush green alpine meadows. For many generations it has belonged to the Cramer-Klett family, who have turned the rustic hut into a cozy, culinary feel-good place in the middle of nature - the STUBN.
The time-out begins for the guests even before their arrival. Because the STUBN can only be reached on foot, by bike or with the offered shuttle service. You walk or cycle for about an hour on beautiful forest and meadow paths before you reach the hut in a small hollow. From here you can gaze across meadows, valleys, mountains, spruce and fir trees and let yourself be pampered with culinary delights.
During the day, hikers and walkers who are out and about in the mountains come to the STUBN. Overnight, the guests in the cozy, minimalist guest rooms are enveloped in a very special mountain silence, before waking up in the morning to the gentle sound of cowbells.

ArchitectureNatural design in the middle of nature - the Frasdorfer Hütte was carefully renovated according to this standard before its reopening in 2022. The guest room with open kitchen and terrace extends on the ground floor. It forms the heart of the hut. An old wooden staircase leads to the upper floor with nine newly designed double rooms, one three-bed room and one four-bed room. A harmonious ensemble of old and new wood - especially spruce, larch and fir from the region - ensure a particularly pleasant, cozy room climate. The furniture has been reduced to the essentials so that nothing stands in the way of a relaxing break in the mountains. The stylishly designed toilets and modern individual showers are shared in the shared bathroom.
FoodIn the alpine kitchen of the STUBN, we cook to the rhythm of nature. In the morning, a home-made breakfast lures guests into the living room or onto the terrace. If you haven't set out on one of the numerous hikes in the area for lunch, you'll find a hearty snack, coffee and homemade cakes here. In the evening, chef Max Müller serves up freshly reinterpreted local delicacies. All dishes on the weekly changing menu are homemade. Whether Jerusalem artichoke with spinach, fennel with cream cheese and elderberry capers or deer with chard: the food used comes from the vegetable garden at the house, from our own hunting ground and from friendly, organic producers in the region.
The Cramer-Klett family attaches great importance to the fact that not only the guests, but also the employees of the STUBN feel comfortable. When the leftovers have been stowed away and the coffee table is covered, the team of around 14 people eat together every day at 4 p.m. Only local craftsmen were commissioned to carry out the renovation work on the STUBN in order to support the local community. Accommodation is also provided for refugees from Ukraine.
EnvironmentThe STUBN is located in the middle of a nature reserve with numerous animal and plant species, in which the owner family practices sustainable forestry. En-suite bathrooms were not only avoided for reasons of space, but also because experience has shown that significantly less water is wasted in shared bathrooms. The water is heated with solar thermal energy, and the waste is strictly separated. Creative and imaginative recipe ideas enable life waste to be reduced to a minimum.
Kulinarisch ist die Frasdorfer Hütte ein Kind der Alpen, auch wenn Müller das anders interpretiert, als die zahlreichen Einkehrhütten mit Speisekarte von Leberkäs‘ bis Spezi. Fast alle Produkte kommen aus dem alpinen Raum, teilweise sogar direkt von den eigenen Wiesen und Wäldern: 2500 Hektar Berg mit Jagd und Milchwirtschaft gehören zum Grund der Frasdorfer Hütte. Die Mittagskarte entspricht im Wesentlichen der klassischen Brotzeit-Cuisine: Alpenkäse von Jamei, der auch Jan Hartwig beliefert, oder frische Leberwurst aus der eigenen »Stubn«-Wurstküche kann man bestellen.
Für die "Stubn in der Frasdorfer Hütte" lohnt jeder Höhenmeter Aufstieg. Das Mantra "brutal lokal" interpretiert Küchenchef Max Müller lässig raffiniert... denn die "Stubn in der Frasdorfer Hütte" hat alles, was das Münchner Bergherz höher schlagen lässt: Traumlage in den Chiemgauer Bergen. Eine Hütte, die angenehm schlicht wirkt, dann aber viel heimlichen Luxus bietet. Einen Berliner Hipster-Koch, der eigentlich Bayer ist. Und ein vom Gastraum einsehbares Holzfeuer, auf dem nebenbei fantastisch (und natürlich regional) gekocht wird.

The STUBN cannot be reached by car. From Frasdorf, from the Lederstube car park, the forest road leads up to the hut. This path is also suitable for cyclists and families with prams. The walking time is about 50 minutes (3 km). Experienced hikers can also find their way from the Hohenaschau Festival Hall car park (in Aschau) via the Hofalm to the STUBN.
