Recharge House Klitmøller

Klitmøller, North Jutland, Denmark

Just 450 meters from the North Sea lies Recharge House Klitmøller, an architecturally exceptional holiday home surrounded by dunes, heathland and protected nature.

Built together with friends and completed in 2020, this is a place to recharge your batteries – with plenty of light, space, and views of the greenery. The sheltered courtyard with a 130 m² terrace forms the heart of the house. Large windows and a spacious floor plan naturally connect indoor and outdoor spaces.

The house consists of a main building with an open-plan kitchen and a separate annex with two bedrooms and a bathroom – ideal for families or couples. The design exudes a special sense of tranquility: Northern light streams into the living room through the skylight, and at night, the starry sky reveals itself. In the bathroom, you can lie in the bathtub with a view of the sky – particularly atmospheric in winter. The sauna with its panoramic window also brings nature and relaxation together.

Klitmøller – known as "Cold Hawaii" – is one of the best surfing areas in Northern Europe. Surf schools, outdoor activities, and Thy National Park make the region a paradise for nature and sports enthusiasts. Hiking, cycling, and wildlife watching are also part of the experience – for example, dancing cranes in spring and large herds of red deer in late summer.

Sustainable

The hosts are deeply involved in the local community: They operate Surfgaarden, a rehabilitation center for veterans with PTSD that offers therapeutic surfing. They also manage Cowork Klitmøller, a modern workspace for creatives and entrepreneurs. For almost 20 years, they have been instrumental in the development of the region, actively contributing to the promotion of culture, sports, and local community.

EnvironmentDenmark is considered a pioneer in renewable energy – especially in the region where the accommodation is located, the municipality of Thisted, this topic has played a central role for many years. The hosts at Recharge House source their electricity exclusively from sustainable sources such as wind and solar power. Furthermore, Denmark consistently recycles – plastic, metal, glass, paper, and organic waste are carefully separated and recycled, contributing to the conscious use of resources.
