The Baltic Sea Treehouse Hotel offers guests an incomparable nature experience: floating five meters above the ground, embedded in the peaceful landscape of the Bungsberg nature reserve, the dream of being one with nature comes true here.
Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows allow the interior and exterior worlds to merge, and on the private terrace, birdsong and sunsets invite you to leave everyday life behind.
The former farm has been family-owned since 1870 and was used as a restaurant from 1920. Since 2018, the hosts have been working with great dedication on the expansion to the treehouse hotel, which will open on June 1, 2025 together with the treehouse bistro. The concept combines an extraordinary holiday experience with sustainability and regional character in order to preserve the uniqueness of the Ostholstein nature reserve.
The seven treehouse suites and seven treehouse lodges are characterized by a modern, Scandinavian style that perfectly combines minimalism and coziness. Natural materials such as wood and warm textiles create a harmonious ambience, while custom-made furniture makes optimal use of the space. Every detail was designed in close cooperation with local craftsmen, whose expertise and regional ties shape the design. Light-flooded rooms and the proximity to nature invite you to switch off. Whether with your first coffee with a view of the greenery or in the evening with a glass of wine on the terrace - these treehouses are a place of peace and security.

ArchitectureThe tree houses are made of certified, natural materials, mainly wood, and blend harmoniously into the surroundings thanks to their Scandinavian design in natural colors. Built on stilts, they protect the sensitive ecosystem of the Bungsberg nature reserve. The local population was involved in the planning right from the start: comments and suggestions for improvement were incorporated into the project-specific development plan. The construction will also be carried out primarily by local craft businesses. The historic farm building will be preserved and used as a cozy tree house bistro. In addition, a farm shop will be built, which will not only supply tourists but also strengthen the village center for the neighborhood.
FoodThe hosts promote the regional economy by working closely with local suppliers. They offer their guests fresh, regional and seasonal food with ingredients from local farms and try to avoid waste by cooking to order. Leftover food is disposed of in separate containers, which are then collected.
The salaries and social benefits of the Ostsee Baumhaushotel are above the regional average and meet the highest standards. Regulated working hours, fair remuneration and compliance with all labor law standards are a matter of course for the hosts. They also promote the personal and professional development of their employees through regular training and create a pleasant working environment. Employees also have access to the facilities. Diversity is also a lived reality here: an inclusive working environment is offered in which respect comes first. Discrimination has no place here - regardless of gender, age or origin. Together, a team is created that benefits from diversity and mutual appreciation.
EnvironmentThe energy-efficient tree houses feature state-of-the-art insulation, climate-neutral heating systems and energy-efficient air conditioning, complemented by LED lighting and appliances in the best energy efficiency class. The supply is entirely from renewable energy sources. Water-saving fittings and environmentally friendly cleaning products underline the hosts' commitment to conserving resources. Towels and bed linen are only changed on request to avoid unnecessary consumption. With a nature and educational trail that leads through renaturalized ponds, orchards and hilly landscapes, guests are invited to discover the diversity and beauty of nature. The project includes the creation of a 2-kilometer-long bend and the conversion of 3 hectares of arable land into flowering meadows and orchards. This has created habitats for numerous animal and plant species, including deer, foxes and rare bird species that can be observed in their natural environment.
Well-BeingAn outdoor sauna and two hot tubs in the nature are part of the complex and offer a great view of the landscape and the adjacent pasture with the Galloway cattle. There is also a nature trail directly at the treehouse hotel: a 2-kilometer-long path leads through the resort with renaturalized ponds, orchards and wide meadows.
