At an altitude of 1,700 meters, the Oberhauserhütte in Lüsen is surrounded by forest, high moorland, and views of imposing mountain peaks like the Peitlerkofel. The wonderfully secluded location ensures immediate relaxation.
The hut, once a dairyman's hut, has been family-owned for generations and was lovingly converted into a small mountain hotel by David and Valentina in 2018. Their vision: to create a place where regional hospitality, closeness to nature, and culinary delights come together in a sustainable way. The family atmosphere makes the stay special – guests feel like they are visiting friends.
The seven rooms and three suites are timeless, natural, and cozy at the same time. The minimalist and precise wooden design makes the rooms airy, and the large windows provide panoramic views. The suites also feature an infrared cabin. The small, yet elegant wellness area features a barrel sauna, hay bath, and whirlpool.
At lunchtime, the excellent restaurant serves traditional, homemade mountain cuisine, including dumplings, Schlutzkrapfen (shrimp ravioli), Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes), cake, and goulash. Guests can set off directly from the accommodations for hikes or bike rides. Surrounded by nature, guests can enjoy stargazing after returning home. Those seeking a retreat in nature will find it here – authentic, warm, and with a genuine passion for nature and its preservation.

The architecture of the alpine hut combines traditional construction with modern sustainability. It was built using local materials and by local craftsmen.
Sustainability is also evident in the way we handle food: We cook using our own organic produce, seasonal and regional, from the farm. Food waste is composted.
Only local staff are employed, and everyone can take advantage of hotel amenities like e-bikes and the wellness area. Food and drinks are free, and continuing education courses are offered annually.
The house meets Climate House A standards (triple glazing, insulation, etc.). Electricity is supplied by the rooftop PV system and the local hydroelectric power plant. Heating is provided by wood pellets. Waste separation is implemented with upcycling and recycling, including on-site composting of organic waste. Reduced water and electricity consumption, and targeted optimization mechanisms are in place to further reduce consumption.
Barrel sauna, hay bath, whirlpool, some with infrared cabins, and a natural swimming pond. Plus, a wide range of outdoor sports starting right on your doorstep.
