Here, at an altitude of over 1600 meters, Rahel and Patrick have found a place that stands above all for deceleration, regional delights and closeness to nature.
The "Nühus" is a so-called Walser house that is more than two hundred years old and was originally home to two farming families. The original character was retained during the first renovation in the 1960s, but the windows were enlarged so that a lot of light floods into the rooms. Walser houses are typical of the region and can be found in many of the alpine valleys that have been inhabited since the Middle Ages.
Most of the rooms have been furnished with the original furniture – wonderfully creaking wooden floorboards included. The new comfortable box spring beds ensure even more restful sleep and each room has its own bathroom.
In the morning, the well-rested guests can look forward to a sumptuous breakfast with homemade bread and regional products from the Safien Valley. Dairy products, meat and honey come directly from the valley. The eggs are laid fresh every day by the pretty Nühus chickens. In the evening there is also a menu with culinary delicacies from the region - but gladly combined with surprising spices.
In the summer you can then enjoy the starry sky and the peace and quiet outside after eating, and in the winter you can sip a good red wine by the fireplace. More mountain romance and panorama is not possible - a large window offers a clear view of the pretty valley.

The building from 1802 was rebuilt for the first time in the 1960s by the famous Graubünden architect Rudolf Olgiati. The traditional architecture and historical charm should be preserved as far as possible. In addition, however, he added larger windows, a stone staircase and a fireplace room.
A natural, seasonal, fresh and, if possible, organic cuisine with products from the Safiental or the nearby region is important to the makers. In addition, a lot of homemade or sustainably and carefully produced by suppliers who you trust. The Hunger family - how fitting - supplies excellent alpine cheese and delicious yoghurt creations. The coffee is roasted in Untervaz by the Don George roastery. The Passugger mineral water comes from a natural spring and the cattle live around the corner at Geronimo Döring. The Gran Alpin flour from grain growing at this altitude is used for the bread and delicious cakes.
All the sewage from the nühus is cleaned in its own organic treatment plant and the clean water is fed back into nature. The electricity is produced by the hydroelectric power station in the valley.
