The Norwegian Wood Cabin is nestled between forests and a small stream. In winter, the valley is covered in a tranquil blanket of snow, while in the morning, the first rays of sun gently illuminate the Trysilfjell mountain. In summer, the babbling of the stream is accompanied by the chirping of birds and the gentle rustling of the trees.
The house is a modern interpretation of a traditional log cabin, built in 2023 by designer Detlef Rahe and architect Katrin Sonntag. The architecture combines ecological materials with contemporary functionality and a clean aesthetic: floors, walls, ceilings, and even the facades are made almost entirely of wood. The open-plan living space with a fireplace, large kitchen, and dining area invites you to linger, while the separate sleeping area with four lovingly designed bedrooms, two shower rooms, and two separate toilets offers space for peace and privacy.
Spacious hallways with walk-in wardrobes ensure that the rooms remain free of closets. The separate annex houses a spacious sauna with a panoramic window, an additional bathroom, and a laundry room with a washing machine and boot dryer.
Once you leave the cabin, you'll find yourself in the middle of Scandinavia's largest ski area. This is a perfect place for alpine and Nordic skiing in winter, as well as for hiking and nature experiences in summer and autumn.

The Norwegian Wood Cabin was built entirely from local wood and, thanks to careful 3D planning, assembled like a precise puzzle. Its excellent insulation ensures that hardly any additional heating is needed in winter.
Cleaning, maintenance, snow removal, and janitorial services are handled exclusively by local companies to support the region and ensure short distances.
The house is illuminated with warm, energy-saving LED light. The electricity comes almost entirely from hydropower, as is common in Norway. Only natural, sustainable materials, installed by regional craftsmen, are used for the heating, sauna, kitchen, and lighting. The property remains largely untouched by nature, supported by consistent waste separation. An electric car charging point at the house completes the sustainable concept.
There is a sauna with an adjoining bathroom as well as a variety of indoor and outdoor areas for sports, yoga, and relaxation.
