From Moosham 13, guests enjoy the view of the trees and meadows of the Bavarian Forest, the old, listed bakery, the chicken coop with Udo the rooster, as well as the fruit and berry garden.
The farm with two holiday apartments represents a reduction to the essentials: little, but high quality. Only natural, untreated materials were used. The starting point was the desire to use wood from our own forest for the untreated floors. The reduced furnishing style brings out the traditional building culture in combination with modern architecture and skilfully combines purism and coziness. Light colors and the absence of unnecessary decoration, as well as natural building materials and temperature control ensure a pleasant room climate.
After years in the big city, Verena and Reinhold have returned to the farm, which has been run by the family for generations. The house, built around 1840, has been completely renovated and since 2017 you have been able to welcome guests to the holiday apartments. They also manage grassland and forests and grow vegetables for self-sufficiency. Their intention is and was to ensure the preservation and continuation of the historic Vierseithof. They would like to share their vision of sustainable living and the beauty of the Bavarian Forest with their guests. The Bavarian Forest is the largest forest landscape in Central Europe with countless leisure activities and has so far been spared from “overtourism”.

ArchitectureThe apartments have a minimalist design and ensure a natural living environment. The floor in the house is made with wood from our own forest. The walls are plastered with natural lime. The furniture is made of untreated wood and is partly recycled. The aim was to enable the conversion of the existing farmhouse instead of a new building. This made it possible to avoid further sealing of nature. All materials used are high quality and robust and some are also reused. The renovation was carried out with carpenters and craft companies from the region. For example, the old stairs, historic box windows and granite walls were preserved.
FoodThe vegetarian breakfast comes with organic pastries and homemade jams. Upon order, freshly cooked “enjoyment in a glass” is delivered to your room door for lunch and dinner. Home-grown vegetables are used here. Food waste is not thrown away, but rather composted. A highlight for the guests is the sourdough bread made from regional organic grain, baked at Reinhold's farm, which can be ordered exclusively for the guests (wheat bread or mixed bread). Another specialty is vegetarian goulash. Most dishes are vegetarian or vegan, prepared in-house and, where possible, grown in-house.
EnvironmentWood from our own forest and solar thermal energy are used for the temperature control and hot water. The lighting throughout the house was converted to LED. There is extensive waste separation and, above all, waste avoidance. Alternative cleaning agents are also used. In the fruit and vegetable garden, collected rainwater is used for irrigation. The lampshades are made from recycled glass. The accommodation uses 100% green electricity. Bed linen and towels are only changed when necessary.
