Tiny House

minimalanders

Altmannstein, Bavaria, Germany

Opposite the romantic Hexenagger Castle lies a small, special house, nestled in a terraced natural garden with native plants and a wide view over the village.

The "minimalanders" is located on the old property of host Robert's grandparents and was completed in 2025 with a great deal of passion. Parts of the former house were deliberately integrated into the new building to save resources and preserve the site's history.

In collaboration with an architectural firm, a minimalist, clearly designed refuge was created, constructed entirely of wood. Its high gable makes it appear far more spacious than its footprint would suggest. Large windows bring nature directly inside, creating a wonderfully cozy atmosphere in winter.

Outside, guests will find lovingly landscaped garden levels and a Swedish wood-fired outdoor bathtub – a true highlight that offers special moments in a secluded corner. Comfortable seating, sun loungers, and a parasol are available on the terrace, perfect for enjoying the peace and the expansive views of the location.

Hosts Tina and Robert consciously strive for sustainable operation, largely avoid plastic, and are gradually making the garden climate-resistant and close to nature.

Sustainable

Architecture

The house was built using sustainable timber construction methods, consciously integrating existing foundations and outbuildings. All the furniture is made of solid wood and was handcrafted by the hosts themselves – simple, functional, and durable. Even the outdoor bathtub fits into the concept: its unchlorinated water is used to irrigate the garden after bathing. Only local tradespeople from within a 30-kilometer radius worked on the construction, and the timber came from local forests.

For cleaning and laundry, the house relies on a local inclusive company that provides stable employment for people with disabilities. Soap and shower gel are also deliberately sourced from "Mari & Anne," another inclusive business.

Environment

The house was built entirely of wood using the most ecological materials possible – a concept that ensures a balanced indoor climate and eliminates the need for air conditioning. Lush greenery thrives on the roof, and the hosts source their electricity exclusively from renewable energy. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used, and the house largely avoids plastic. Tina and Robert are particularly proud of their natural garden, which has been certified as bird-friendly by the Bavarian Society for the Protection of Birds and offers a small paradise for many native species.

Well-Being

The property features a Swedish-style, wood-fired outdoor bathtub, an idyllic spot for relaxing evenings under the open sky. Hiking and cycling trails through the Altmühltal Nature Park start right at the house, and numerous attractions await in the surrounding area: the impressive Danube Gorge with Weltenburg Abbey, the historic city of Regensburg, a stalactite cave, and several castles and palaces. For a refreshing dip in the summer, Lake St. Agatha and the Altmannstein outdoor swimming pool are just five kilometers away.
