Cambrils is a pretty village on the Costa Dorada, 115 kilometers south of Barcelona. The region is famous for its temperate climate, relaxed atmosphere and excellent gastronomy. The B&B Mas Montbrio Belvedere is located in the middle of a large olive grove. The house with its typical Catalan face has been extensively renovated and is now the ideal accommodation for people who love modern design and at the same time attach great importance to the use of resources. In 2018 it was recognized as the most sustainable hotel in Spain!
From the terrace of the pretty B&B there is an impressive view of the mountains, especially at sunrise and sunset. Here you can enjoy the delicious breakfast with fresh products from the neighborhood.
You can always smell the scent of the typical Mediterranean vegetation on the property, for example when relaxing by the heated pool on one of the comfortable loungers. The annual harvest of the surrounding olive trees takes place in November and December. If you want, you can help or adopt a tree and have the tasty Mas Montbrió Belvedere olive oil sent home.
In the summer months, the hosts offer to cook a delicious meal for guests twice a week. The operators always have great tips for local festivals and events and exploring the area. The annual music festival in Cambrils in July and August attracts visitors from all over Europe. In the village there is the possibility to go to so-called "xiringuitos". These are casual beach bars, often with excellent food in a very romantic and informal setting.
It never gets boring here: there are six golf courses within a radius of 30 kilometers. The nearby mountains offer a challenging training area for cyclists, as well as great hiking and Nordic walking trails. The golden beaches of Cambrils, just seven kilometers from the Mas, offer ample opportunities for all kinds of water sports.
The Priory, home to some of Spain's best red wines, is just 45 minutes' drive from the house. In the nearby El Penedés region, known for its cava, the Spanish champagne, tours are offered in the cellars of various cava manufacturers. There are special offers for guests who are particularly interested in gastronomy.
ArchitectureThe operators bought the 80-year-old farmhouse ten years ago, refurbished it extensively, while maintaining the typical Catalan architecture. The goal was to transform Mas Montbrió Belvedere into an ecological B&B with minimal impact on the environment. For this reason, an earth and solar energy plant was planned and built. Over 500 new fruit and olive trees were planted on the property. The Mas has its own spring, which is used for the water supply of both the house and the olive and fruit trees.
FoodBreakfast is offered. The operators follow the philosophy of being "as green as possible" and therefore always buy products from nearby suppliers: milk from Catalonia, honey from the neighbors, vegetables and fruits from the Cambrils cooperative, eggs from next door.
EnvironmentThere are no refrigerators in the rooms. Customers share a refrigerator in the shared kitchen. Washer, dryer and dishwasher correspond to energy efficiency class A or higher. Recyclable waste is separated. In the common area there are recycling bins (paper, glass, cardboard, plastic, metal, organic) that allow guests to separate the garbage directly.
