Anyone who has ever traveled through Tuscany in a car knows this: somewhere in the further or nearer distance they stand on their heights, these Tuscan country estates from several buildings, surrounded by pine trees and cypresses ... And then you drive in the car and dream of what it would be like to live in a house like this, walk through the surrounding lavender-scented gardens and rest on an antique stone bench ...
One such house is the Casanuova and there are guest rooms for everyone who knows such dreams. Including everything described above and a biological swimming pond on top of it, plus Italian "Mammas" who conjure up traditional Tuscan dishes every day and everything in a family atmosphere that the Besancon couple and their family created here according to the motto: La Bellezza della semplicitá - so the beauty of the simple.
There is no TV or telephone here, instead there are many conversations with other guests at the large communal tables and, if desired, guided walks across the grounds and, of course, lots of sun, lots of rest and relaxation.
Sustainable
ArchitectureOne of these typical Tuscan country estates, which is made up of several buildings with different roof heights. Walls made of stone blocks, partially whitewashed, and terracotta tiles arranged around a romantic courtyard. As original as possible, Ursula and Thierry Besancon, they Germans, he Dutch, rebuilt the courtyard, which was in need of renovation in the 80s, and furnished it with loving attention to traditional and natural furniture and materials.
FoodThe heart of the Casanuova is - as it should be in Italy - the large kitchen. Here regional delicacies based on slow-food principles are conjured up from seasonal and, if possible, organic products. Fresh every day with herbs and fruit from our own garden. Wholemeal bread with sourdough and the pasta are homemade. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are possible every day on request.
EnvironmentThe Besançons have been growing their wine and olives organically for over thirty years, and Casanuova also thinks sustainably on all other topics. It is freshly cooked every day, also to avoid garbage. The garbage is strictly separated and electricity is generated using a photovoltaic system. In summer there is warm water from solar panels. Guests and employees are encouraged to save electricity and water. And guests are encouraged to change towels only when necessary.
Well-BeingAt Casanuova every day starts with an hour of yoga, which is included in the price. Different massages are possible on request.

Location + Directions
By car
The Locanda Casanuova is about 32 km south-east of Florence. It takes just under an hour by car. Arezzo (located to the south) is also an hour's drive (59 km), and Siena is just under 1.5 hours away (56 km). There is also the option of arriving by bus (from Florence), however the closest bus stop is 2 km away. You will receive the exact address when booking.
