You can't tell how old the mill is from the carefully restored buildings. But parts of the foundations date back to the 17th century.
In the 1990s, Ingrid Kirnbauer, née Martin, and her husband Ulrich took over the former guest house from her parents and converted it into a hotel with a variety of rooms. The idyllic, secluded location surrounded by meadows and orchards with a view of Lake Constance make the place special. And the comfortably laid out, spacious garden with a playground and petting animals does its part. For bad weather days, there is a sauna, a lounge with a fireplace and the library with a large selection and loungey leather armchairs.
The fact that it is so cozy in the Martinsmühle could be because the hotel has been passed down from mother to daughter for several generations. The female guiding hand can be felt in every corner and makes it really homely for the guests. And the Kirnbauers' four daughters are already ready to continue the tradition.

From Munich, the journey to Martinsmühle takes a good 2 hours (184 km). From Zurich, it takes just under 2 hours (144 km), from Stuttgart, just over 2 hours (210 km) and from Innsbruck, it takes a good 2.5 hours (209 km). You can find the exact address on the hotel website.
The Martinsmühle can only be reached by public transport if you follow the slow living principle. First you have to take the train to the island of Lindau. From there a city bus runs every half hour in the right direction to the nearest larger village. And from there it is another 1.5 km walk to the hotel. Actually quite relaxed.
