Lådfabriken

Edshultshall, Western Coast, Sweden

Lådfabriken literally means 'fish box factory' and this charming property is situated on a beautiful archipelago off the west coast of Sweden. Wooden fish boxes and boats for the local fishing industry used to be made here. The unique and lovingly renovated building has four extremely tastefully furnished guest rooms, each with its own bathroom area.

Red, blue, yellow, green - all (basic) colors can be found here in the interior. Beautiful finds from all over the world, trendy fabrics and funny decorations. In between, Scandinavian classics, retro furniture and lots of cozy light sources. Of course, the original use of the building still plays a role, some fish boxes serve as colorful storage space.

The hosts Johan and Marcel rebuilt the house independently in 2010 and do almost everything themselves. Johan knew the building from childhood because he used to walk past it to go swimming.

In the evenings you can enjoy a delicious three-course menu in the family atmosphere in the large eat-in kitchen all year round, which is made only from local organic products - primarily fish and shellfish. In the middle of nature, with a view of the water, you can switch off and breathe deeply here.

Sustainable

ArchitectureDuring the conversion of the former factory, only local materials were used and care was taken to interfere as little as possible with the surrounding nature. The house should retain its original charm as much as possible and radiate invitingly in cheerful colors - inside and out.

FoodAs far as possible, local and ecological ingredients are bought and a lot is made in-house. She is particularly popular with spicy fish soup, special cod recipes and lobster dishes.

Marcel and Johan are LGBTQ advocates. And they donate to the dog shelter where they adopt their street dogs from (Salvem Animals a Catalunya). On New year they organise an annual event for the local community.

EnvironmentIt is heated with geothermal energy and only ecological cleaning agents are used. Solar panels provide energy, there is a charging station for electric cars. Of course, recycling, composting, homemade and reused wherever possible.

Testimonials
