The view of Villa San Michele is spectacular, because the hotel nestles into a rugged rock. Its white-blue facade, surrounded by purple bougainvillea flowers, results in a postcard idyll par excellence on the gray of the stone. But the view from the hotel is also sensational: from the balcony or one of the beautifully planted terraces you look out onto the garden or enjoy the view of the cobalt blue sea and green hills.
It is not for nothing that the Amalfi Coast is one of the 50 Italian sites of the UNESCO World Heritage. The air around the hotel is filled with the scents of citrus trees. The ambience of Villa San Michele is ideal for romantic vacations and if you are longing for Italian flair.
The Villa San Michele dates from the 1950s. The Dipino family, who have been working in the hotel and catering trade for generations, converted the building into a hotel in the 1980s. Since then, the family has worked every day to make this dreamlike place even more unique.
A highlight of the hotel visit are certainly the dishes of the hotel's restaurant, which is located in the middle of the park, which leads down to the sea on a private path. In the restaurant, Ms. Rosa Mammato and chef Pasquale Donatantonio offer the daily menu with the best products that the coast has to offer - from handmade pasta to fresh fish, there is something for every taste.
The hotel is ideally located for nice day trips. For example to the island of Capri or the famous Abbey Church of Caserta on Mount Cassino or the legendary Pompeii, which was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius. If you don't want to explore the area on your own, you can take part in organized excursions by expert staff. If you want to do some physical activity, the Amalfi Coast offers numerous beautiful hiking destinations, such as the nearby Monti Lattari mountain range.

ArchitectureIts spectacular location directly on the rock alone makes the hotel an architectural gem. Every single step on the entire site offers a sea view to kneel down. In the colors white and blue, the building has a typical southern Italian look; but the influence of Arab architects is unmistakable, as everywhere on the Amalfi Coast. During the renovation, care was taken to preserve the character of the villa, which was built in the 1950s. Overall, the atmosphere can be described as small and very cozy. The rooms are simple and functional; blue dominates here as color. The restaurant is located in the middle of the park, which leads down to the sea and offers one of the most beautiful views of the Amalfi Coast. The pavilion consists of a glass structure that blends in perfectly with the surrounding Mediterranean vegetation.
FoodAs almost everywhere in Italy, food also plays a special role in the Hotel Villa San Michele. In the morning there is a classic continental breakfast with fresh orange and lemon juice from the citrus fruits from the hotel's garden. Bread and croissant come from a nearby, long-established bakery. The daily changing menu is prepared from carefully selected, especially fresh, local products, starting with starters such as sausage platters or lemons from Monti Lattari, handmade pasta and fresh fish dishes. The kitchen is happy to prepare vegetarian and vegan dishes on request. The menus are accompanied by the famous wines of the Amalfi Coast and the incomparable liqueurs from the region, such as Limoncello, "Laurino" or "Concierto". Finally, the guest can choose from numerous desserts, all of which are poems: here there are pastiers, crostates, Torta Caprese, Delizie al limone, Torta al Limone, il Babà, il Pasticciotto and many more.
EnvironmentLiving in such a place makes it impossible to not love nature, says the Dipino family. Environmental protection is therefore a matter of course for them. The staff is trained accordingly. Particular attention is paid to energy efficiency: all rooms are equipped with LEDs. When guests are not in their room, energy consumption is automatically monitored.
