The Nabia is a hotel with soul. When guests arrive, breathe in the pure air and see the nature that surrounds this accommodation, they experience instant relaxation and a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Here, guests are suggested three "activities": "Molicie", the art of "actively doing nothing", "feeling nature" and "practicing kindness", i.e. experiencing the benefits of sharing it with everyone around you (other guests, the... staff) from the bottom of my heart.
In October 2010 the house opened its doors and welcomed its first guests. Iñigo and Sofia, the creative visionaries and owners of the hotel, have made their dreams come true here. The boutique hotel, lovingly designed in a country house style, is the result of her numerous travels and her longing for a special retreat.
Each room tells its own story, with family-owned furniture and unique details from their adventures around the world. Natural fabrics such as cotton and linen dominate the furnishings, while large windows offer breathtaking views of the Tietar Valley, the majestic peaks of the Gredos Mountains and the sparkling Rosarito Lake.
The large garden with its wonderful pool, many trees and retreats serves as a wonderful extension of the cozy rooms and offers relaxation all year round.

ArchitectureThere is a very effective insulation system in the hotel to reduce the need for heating and air conditioning. There are also wooden floors and wooden window frames in keeping with local building traditions. The infinity swimming pool is treated with salt water to avoid harmful chlorine for guests and the environment. The entire garden area was designed with plants that can withstand the acidity of the soil, using as many native plants as possible and preserving all the oak trees that were on the site before the hotel was built. There is drip irrigation throughout the garden, except the lawn. The renovation also involved working exclusively with local providers.
FoodThe hosts offer as many regional foods as possible. Except fish, everything comes from local farms or our own vegetable garden. A local farm supplies the hotel with first-class meat from specially cared for cattle. The cheese comes from local and artisan dairies. The vegetables that cannot be grown in the vegetable garden come from local orchards. The eggs used for dinner and breakfast come from free-ranging chickens. Even the orange juice that is available every morning is always freshly squeezed. There is also the possibility of meeting all requirements regarding food restrictions such as celiac disease or gluten intolerance as well as lactose intolerance. Food waste is disposed of in accordance with current regulations and in separate containers (plastic, paper and organic).
8 out of 10 employees come from the village of Candeleda, where the hotel is located. The hosts offer English courses for them and their children, promote the compatibility of work and family and support them. There is also the possibility of getting discounts for accommodating friends and relatives. There is a good working atmosphere in which trust and care play an important role. Almost all of the employees have been with the hotel since the very beginning. Iñigo and Sofia also financially support a local association for mentally handicapped people. They also sell some of the products they make, such as handmade soap, to their guests and support sports clubs for football and paddle tennis.
EnvironmentThe hotel has received 4-star Ecostar Gold certification for its goal of reducing the accommodation's impact on the environment, eliminating single-use plastic bottles, strengthening packaging and waste recycling, and reducing water and energy consumption. The hosts are also members of Europarc, the EU project for sustainable tourism in protected areas. The wastewater treatment system is a floating macrophyte filter (MCF), a plant that makes filtration and purification 100% natural. This also creates a small ecosystem with plants and animals that develop together. 100% of the heating and hot water is generated with a biomass boiler that runs on vegetable waste. 20kw solar panels were also recently installed which have reduced the use of the public grid by 30%. In the garden and vegetable garden, only natural fertilizers and organic treatments are used, without chemicals harmful to the environment. The hosts also want to keep light pollution as low as possible, because the starry sky that can be seen is a true gift from nature.
Well-BeingThe hotel has a masseuse who offers a combination of different massage styles, balancing body and mind. There is also an outdoor swimming pool with lightly salted water, open from May to October.
190 km west from Madrid, just south of the winter playground that is the Sierra de Gredos National Park, this is a popular and rather romantic weekend break spot. To keep that loving feeling, do make sure to book one of the suites with a fireplace in the living room. And, if it’s a special occasion, try to get the Valley suite which has floor to ceiling windows looking out over oaks and chestnut trees and one of those hydro-massage baths, as well.
