Pure nature. Nestled in the heart of the Volcanoes National Park, amidst rolling hills and evergreen oak forests, this region in northeastern Spain is a paradise for nature lovers. The garden of the estate is fragrant with sage, rosemary, and lavender. Butterflies and hummingbird bees flit among the flowers.
Mas Pelegri, located in Catalonia, is a sustainable sports hotel born from the simple yet effective idea of helping people live healthier lives and enjoy and protect nature. The over 500-year-old pilgrim's house had fallen into disrepair when the owners discovered it in 2005 and lovingly transformed it into a hotel. During the renovation, as many old beams, tiles, and stones as possible were reused, while energy- and water-saving technologies were implemented. The family is actively committed to environmental protection and the well-being of its employees.
It's a place for people who love an active lifestyle and nature. Guests include cyclists, triathletes, families, clubs, and teams from all over the world who want to enjoy sports together and the scenery. Some use it as a training camp, while others want to spend an active holiday in nature. Mas Pelegri aims to be a home for everyone, and everyone is welcome here.
Why Girona? Girona is one of the world's best cycling and multisport destinations. Right in the heart of it all, Mas Pelegri offers not only a unique charm but also the opportunity to start your adventures right from the doorstep: cycling, running, hiking, horseback riding, and swimming – it's all possible here. And after an active day, seasonal, regional delicacies, a large pool, yoga sessions, and a beautiful garden for relaxation await guests.

Sustainability was central to the renovation. The stone walls were rebuilt using local stone to keep the building cool in summer and warm in winter. Shutters further block the sun in summer, while special windows help warm the building in winter. During the renovation, the old trees were preserved and local plants with lower water requirements were planted. Locally sourced timber was used for the beams. Handmade tiles from local producers were used throughout the house, and old tiles and beams from the original building were reused in the main building.
All dishes are prepared daily using fresh ingredients. For breakfast and dinner, rolls and focaccia are served. A typical summer menu includes melon and cucumber salad with fresh mint, vinegar, and orange dressing, Arros Catalana (the local paella), and lemon soufflé. Seasonal and regional products are used, and cooking is done according to the zero-waste principle. Any waste is composted.
The employees come from the surrounding towns and villages. They utilize programs for reintegration into the labor market. Additional training enables employees to broaden their professional horizons. Pilgrimages and more time with family are also supported. For example, they facilitate the return to work for mothers in particular by aligning their working hours with school hours.
The house is off-grid; solar panels provide electricity. Waste separation, recycling, and upcycling are standard practice. Water consumption is low (no garden irrigation), and shade-loving plants are cultivated. Wastewater is treated and returned to the ground. The pool is covered. Alternative cleaning products are used, and no pesticides are sprayed in the garden.
Massage, sauna, Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga, trapeze yoga, personal coaching in the pool or gym, triathlon and cycling coaching, guided bike tours, running and hiking.
