Hotel Hevresac

Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

"Whom the oat stings"…. he may have to go on trips. So tie your backpack / oat sack (Hevresac) and go to fill the sack with experiences and impressions.

In Menorca, the traveler could stay in the matching hotel "Hevresac" in Maó. Here in the capital, in the house of the famous merchant and captain Joan Roca i Vinent, which was built in 1790 during the time of British rule, Ignasi Truyol and his wife Stéphanie set up their hotel "Hevresac" and opened it in June 2018.

Several rooms of different sizes, with or without a balcony, are furnished in a mixture of antique materials and colors and new elements. There is a large, well-equipped communal kitchen with a cozy oven where guests can try out the island's regional products.

Many different beaches can be reached from here - rather rugged with wind and waves in the north, and milder with hills and bright sandy beaches in the south. And when walking through cities and picturesque fishing villages or the very original nature of the island, the "Hafersack / Hevresac" will surely quickly become full of beautiful memories.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe town house from 1790 was renovated and furnished according to sustainable and aesthetic criteria. Many elements such as old tiles, metal columns or wooden floors and the typical sliding windows have been preserved. The regionally typical colors for ceilings and walls were also modeled and applied with real or real patina. Natural colors and natural insulation materials such as cork and regional natural stone were used in the renovation.

FoodAs far as possible, seasonal products from local manufacturers are served at breakfast. Vegetarian and vegan options possible.

Hotel Hevresac has reduced prices for tour groups with an ecological approach. The operators are also involved in nature conservation and cultural projects on the island.

EnvironmentA large part of the island, which was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1993, is protected by land and nature. In this respect, a particularly holistic view of the coexistence of people and nature and of residents and tourists applies here. The operators of the Hotel Hevresac want to convey to all of their guests that the flora and fauna of the island must be protected and preserved. Of course, they therefore work with solar panels, ecological heating and cooling systems, water is used sparingly, the cleaning agents are biodegradable, the waste is recycled and plastic is avoided wherever possible.
