None of the rooms or suites in the Hotel Altstadt Vienna are the same - they are all individually designed by well-known artists, architects and designers, who interpret the art of Viennese hospitality here. The hotel offers a wide range of room categories, from the large, light-flooded red salon to the spacious suites with two bedrooms and double rooms in sizes from regular to medium.
The beautiful patrician house from 1902 also houses private apartments, so that the guests live next door to Viennese: inside. Art from the owner's collection hangs in the hallways and in the rooms: a lot of color meets a lot of history. Authentically Viennese and with lots of charm, the guests are treated as if they were guests of friends. In the afternoon, home-made cakes and tea are available in the cozy salons at the invitation of the house. Employees and guests meet at eye level.
The hotel has been family-run for 30 years: Otto Ernst Wiesenthal was a manager in the computer industry and, as a career changer, has fulfilled his dream of owning his own hotel - also to accommodate his extensive art exhibition there. Since then, the hotel has grown steadily, from originally 24 to now 62 rooms. Otto's daughters Lisa and Saskia also work in the hotel.
Otto Wiesenthal discovered the then vacant Pension Bellaria at Kirchengasse 41 in the seventh district by accident. At that time the area was not necessarily considered to be the finest area in Vienna. But the view of St. Ulrich's Church and the morning sun in the premises convinced Otto Ernst Wiesenthal. Today the area has developed into a creative district and stands for the hip, artistic center of Vienna with hip concept stores and modern bars.

ArchitectureRemodeling and renovation work always takes place in cooperation with local architects and sustainable, traditional regional companies, and young artists are encouraged.
FoodThe hotel offers a breakfast with real Viennese classics. When it comes to ingredients, the focus is on regionality and seasonality: milk and eggs naturally come from organic farming. Fairtrade organic tea, organic bread, organic ham, muesli, fruit juices from the Traisental, Viennese honey and jams are also served. Breakfast offers gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan products. In the evening, snacks and drinks are served at the bar - well-selected wines or the in-house gin GinA.
Every day the employees enjoy a freshly cooked, warm lunch that also serves as a common meeting point. Full-time employees receive the Wiener Linien annual ticket for environmentally friendly transport. There is a monthly jour fi xe for social exchange and the annual company outing to another city, which also serves as a team incentive and for training purposes, as other hotels are visited. The team has already come to Barcelona, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Naples, Athens and Madrid. The team works together with a long-term and individual duty and vacation schedule. Employees receive training and the opportunity to actively shape the hotel business. Young people are trained in the Hotel Altstadt Vienna or are allowed to do an internship there. Refugees are also supported by receiving an apprenticeship in the hotel. The management would like to create awareness for diversity and gender equality through various training courses. In addition, there is physiotherapy training and massages if necessary to relieve physical work. The Altstadt Vienna promotes social projects by organizing flea markets for a good cause or sponsoring, for example, by renting free rooms for selected events with a social background. In addition, various social associations are financially supported.
EnvironmentThe hosts: it is important to create an awareness of sustainability: The guests receive information about the hotel's environmental activities and are invited to actively participate in the implementation of the environmental ideas. The Altstadt Vienna continuously optimizes the ef fi cient use of energy and water. The electricity comes from over 100% renewable energy sources; the use of energy-saving devices and the increasing use of LED lamps are also part of it. There are various measures to reduce water consumption in rooms and laundry use. The economical use of environmentally friendly cleaning agents prevents water pollution. The hotel values conscious shopping to reduce waste, traffic routes and support local businesses. In addition, it takes care of the environmentally friendly recycling of unavoidable waste, the promotion of reusable containers in the company, an air conditioning system with individual and central control, the use of sustainable office paper and the production of external printed materials with eco-labels.
