House

Gut Feeling

Oberaudorf, Bavaria, Germany

If a few architects plan and build according to their mood and their own taste, then something like this results in this small holiday home with a floor space of just 13 by 4 meters. A small house in the countryside made of solid wood and clay walls sounds a bit like an old farmhouse, but it is cutting-edge architecture and has already been awarded as such. It stands in a garden near the mountains, an idyllic stream flows right next to it and chirping birds frolic in the surrounding trees.

Inside, the entire house is practically a single room, which was divided into a surprisingly large number of different lounge areas by four different levels connected by stairs. Below is the large cooking and dining area, where you almost feel like you are outdoors due to the glazing on both sides, and it is practically almost when all the sliding doors are fully open, and the space is expanded by two free-floating terraces into the garden , A few steps up there is the living room with a fireplace for chilling out and looking out into the mountains.

From the bedroom, again half a level higher, on the other hand, you can see the rippling Auerbach that often freezes to an enchanted ice landscape in winter and invites you to swim in summer. For bathing in the house, there is a tub on the top maisonette level in the room directly under the window with a view of the sky. Of course, there is also a comfortable walk-in shower and a washing area in this well-designed house and then a single door: Behind - visually, auditorily and olfactively separated from the rest of the house - the quiet place.

Speaking of which: visually, the little house as a total work of art is a feast for the eyes for architecture enthusiasts. Tastefully furnished and reduced with the finest furniture and design. The wall decoration, for example, is not a hanging picture, but the view of nature, which is framed by window frames that are clearly separated from the wall in color, thus being staged in all its natural beauty. Speaking of nature: the name says it all. The small house consists of solid wood and mud walls, which ensures a particularly pleasant room climate. Really good to feel good.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe little Gut Feeling consists of all natural raw materials such as wood and clay and would therefore be almost completely recyclable if it were dismantled. The solid, load-bearing wooden walls and the mud bricks from which the house is built also function as ideal storage and insulation materials. All of the raw materials used come from the region and have been built into the house in many ways. The house has a fully automatically controlled ventilation control with heat recovery and so you are always supplied with fresh air.

EnvironmentFeeling good is all the better if you can have a clear conscience by using good and sustainable resources. You can get a good idea of your own energy consumption in this holiday home, because here all circuits are counted individually, whereby it is clearly visible how much energy you use in light or for the washing machine. By the way, all the electricity that is consumed in the feel-good house in sunny weather comes directly from above - from the barely visible photovoltaic system on the roof. So much electricity is generated here that the neighboring house and an electric car socket can also be supplied with it. In gray weather, only green electricity is purchased. Of course, the heating system in the perfectly insulated house is also well thought out and the lighting consists almost entirely of LED. Waste separation is a matter of course - there is compost in the garden.
