GRUNDLERS Gästehaus am See

Wörthsee, Bavaria, Germany

The GRUNDLERS is located in the heart of the Five Lakes Region, not far from Munich. A guest house that offers its guests great added value thanks to its proximity to the metropolitan area and the opportunity to explore the lakes, the mountains and the city in equal measure.

In 2019, Christina and Paul Grundler converted the Grundler-Hof, a 100-year-old farm, into the GRUNDLERS guest house on the lake in cooperation with a planning team from South Tyrol and local craftsmen. The farm, which has been in the family for a long time, is in their home town of Wörthsee, in a central location with a spacious garden and meadows behind the farm. We switched to organic farming 20 years ago. In addition, renewable energies are used. The transformation of the guest house into a sustainable and unique holiday home with ten quarters was an affair of the heart for the two owners.

Particularly worth mentioning is the communal kitchen called "Meet & Eat", which is equipped with a modern kitchen island including BORA hobs, separate cooling compartments and a dry storage area for each quarter. The kitchen is equipped with high-quality pots, pans, knives and a lovingly selected selection of crockery, glasses and cutlery.

The style of the guest house is a successful mixture of industrial design and hygge style, in which tradition and modernity flow together harmoniously. During the conversion, Christina and Paul Grundler attached great importance to giving the house an authentic touch. The entire design reflects her personal style and exudes a cozy atmosphere. The colors of the Wörthsee can be found in many details and color schemes in the house and contribute to the inviting atmosphere.

Sustainable

ArchitectureIn the GRUNDLERS, guests can expect a special concept that was developed by architects and aims for a revitalized and more traditional building culture. The focus was on sustainability and longevity when selecting the products and materials. The rooms are equipped with high-quality solid wood furniture, most of which was specially made for the GRUNDLERS. Plastic was deliberately avoided here. A large bee meadow stretches out in front of the house, helping to support the bee population. The garden is landscaped with plants that are bee friendly and encourage bee habitat. In addition, guests have the opportunity to use the Wörthsee, which is in the immediate vicinity. So you can take a refreshing dip in the lake right before breakfast, dressed only in swimming trunks and a towel. The conversion of the GRUNDLER followed the motto "South Tyrol meets Upper Bavaria". The architecture and the carpentry work come from specialists from South Tyrol, while all other technical matters were taken over by long-standing partners from the region. This collaboration gives the GRUNDLERS a unique charm that harmoniously connects the two regions.

FoodThere is a mini shop that is exclusively stocked with organic food. Organic products are also used for breakfast. Apart from that, the GRUNDLERS says: self-sufficiency.

EnvironmentA large photovoltaic system in the GRUNDLERS enables both the feeding into the power grid and the own consumption. The biomass local heating network not only supplies the GRUNDLERS with heat, but also the surrounding neighborhood. The wood chip heating is operated with wood from our own forest and a short rotation plantation. We have had our own electric car for 10 years. Guests can also use the charging station. The GRUNDLERS is a cooperation partner of a regional energy supplier that relies exclusively on renewable energies and is actively involved in forestry and climate protection projects. In addition, the GRUNDLERS has been an active organic farm for 20 years and is a member of the "Naturland" association. It also supports the organization "Plant for the Planet" in its efforts to protect the environment.
