House

Forstgut

Regen, Bavaria, Germany

Where there used to be a castle and a holiday complex since the 1970s, there is now a chalet village made of light wooden houses. In 2006 Cornelia and Frank von Schnurbein moved out of the big city of Munich into nature and took over the family business with holiday homes and forestry.

Here they founded their large family and have now converted the old holiday homes into modern wooden chalets. As an ideal retreat after a hike or excursion into the surrounding area, the chalets with warm bath tubs on the terraces as well as their own sauna and cozy fireplace are waiting for their residents who are looking for relaxation. Large windows offer wide views from the cozy feel-good atmosphere in the chalet in the middle of the unspoilt nature around.

We also featured this accommodation on our blog at Five places for sauna enthusiasts.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe old houses of the holiday complex from the 70s were completely replaced in 2016-2018 by new chalets in traditional but modern wooden frame construction with wood fiber insulation panels. Wood, as a building material, naturally offered itself to operators who also run their own forest operations. The exposed roof structure of the houses is made of fir wood from the Schnurbeinschen forest. When planning, particular attention was paid to the visual axes within the chalets, so that you always have a particularly beautiful view of the forest or into the distance and the daylight shines in optimally. The work was carried out in cooperation with regional craft businesses. The furniture was made by a carpenter friend who also supplies the honey for the breakfast baskets.

FoodEvery morning the residents of the Forstgut-Chalets receive a full breakfast basket with their own jams, honey from the beekeeper, cheese from the local dairy, rolls from the local bakery, sausage from the local butcher and other delicacies. Otherwise, large, well-equipped kitchens are available in the self-catering accommodation. If you want to eat in the chalet but don't feel like shopping and / or cooking, you don't have to starve. Just ask and order freshly prepared dishes to warm up in the chalet or the ingredients for a quick pasta dish to cook yourself. If you fancy fondue, you can also prepare it and order it with all the ingredients in the house. A barbecue package is also available in summer. Or ... you don't treat yourself to anything else .... Simply order the chef into the house and let yourself be cooked exclusively.

EnvironmentYour own forest in front of the door - which is gradually being converted from the coniferous forest back into the more natural mixed forest form - because heating the heating and process water via a CO2-neutral wood chip system with your own wood is a good idea. Solar power is produced on the roofs of the buildings, with which the forest material wants to become self-sufficient in the long term. The garbage is avoided and everything that arises is carefully separated. Textiles are fair trade and are washed with organic cleaning agents.

Well-BeingMassage in your own chalet in front of the fireplace or on the terrace can be booked. Each chalet has its own sauna and a heated bath tub / whirlpool on the covered terrace.
