Relais Torre Marabino is a secluded oasis in the southeast of the beautiful island of Sicily. Olive trees, grapevines, the murmur of the Mediterranean Sea and the warm temperature - here the pleasant feeling of summer vacation sets in immediately. The furniture and furnishings of the hotel are in Sicilian style and harmonize with the architecture of the Saracen tower, in which the guest rooms are housed.
The shape of the building is a nod to the island's Arabic heritage and a long history of invasions and aristocratic barons. Today you can feel the typical Sicilian hospitality with which the operators welcome every new guest. The accommodations are surrounded by a beautiful green garden with a pool and a terrace where breakfast is taken. There is a playground for younger guests. In the basement of the Saracen tower are the wooden wine barrels in which the winemakers of the hotel's winery cultivate the taste and smell of the Sicilian grapes into an exquisite drink. The wine tastes delicious with the dishes that are prepared in the restaurant: fish dishes, octopus, pasta and of course all kinds of delicious desserts - gourmets are in good hands here.
The warm, sometimes very hot Sicilian days can be spent either by the pool or on the sandy beach by the sea. The rural area is best explored on hikes. The Vendicari nature reserve and of course Mount Etna, Europe's highest and still active volcano, are particularly worthwhile. In the surroundings of Torre Marabino there are numerous historic baroque towns such as Noto, Syracuse, Modica, Scicli, Ragusa and Ibla, all worth visiting.
You can find the hosts' favorite recipe in the kitchen whispers to try at home.

ArchitectureThe accommodation is a former watchtower from the Saracen era. The building was left in its original form but completely renovated. For this, the typical stones from Modica and certain black stones from Comiso were used.
FoodLunch and dinner are served in the restaurant, which is part of the property. For the seasonal dishes, mainly regional products are used, as well as those from the estate's own organic farm.
From bread to pasta, everything is homemade. The speciality is fish with Sicilian ingredients. Vegan, vegetarian and coeliac menus are served.
At breakfast, there are fresh cakes, salami and cheese from the Ragusa region every day, as well as organic honey, jam and freshly squeezed juices.
EnvironmentOnly organic products from the organic farm are used in the hotel, this also applies to oil and wines. The energy supply is based on alternative energies, and organic products are used for cleaning.
You bump over a small level crossing and then plunge along the rough road of an organic farm to reach Relais Torre Marabino. With seven bedrooms, beautifully tended grounds and one of the best restaurants in the area (locals flock here), it exudes informal charm... Tomatoes, courgettes, peppers suddenly offered an insight into the intrinsically Sicilian enjoyment of life. Music was audible too. Ah yes, Roberto explained, he'd found that the vegetables seemed to grow better to the strains of a soothing symphony. And did they like opera? I asked, thinking back to stage-set Scicli. Only the most melodious of arias, came the reply.
Next, we travelled to Ispica on the southeast side of the island where we stayed at Relais Torre Marabino, a boutique hotel in the heart of a large organic farm that produces its own wine, olive oil, fruit and honey. This hotel was originally a Saracen tower and our room had a beautifully rustic feel with tiled floors, a wrought-iron bedstead and elegant, antique wooden furniture. The views from our tall windows were of the lush gardens, the pool and the sea beyond. From here we were perfectly positioned to visit another jewel in Sicily’s crown, the breathtakingly beautiful baroque town of Noto, in the province of Syracuse.
