Dala-Floda Värdshus has always been a guest house. Around 1910, the owner at the time started operating as a summer pension and over the decades it has become a real small hotel business. Because the area around Dalarna with the lakes, hilly birch forests and secluded meadows was already a longing destination 100 years ago in search of the "real Swedish way of life" for travelers from all over the world.
Evalotta and Per Ersson are also here to find the right way of life. They want to live sustainably, stress-free and in harmony with the environment. They have already made a long way. The delightful house and the romantic garden, with many saved plants, are a feast for the eyes, the award-winning food, the peaceful coexistence in the hotel. Per and Evalotta have turned Dala-Floda Värdshus into an unaffected place where people can meet in a relaxed atmosphere.
Recently, the two bees are learning to care and make honey themselves. And with the Värdshus they hope to leave an impression on their holiday visitors, which in the long term may also bring about a permanent change in their everyday life towards more sustainable life.

ArchitectureThe hotel, in the traditional Swedish architectural style from the end of the 19th century, has the typical strut windows and wooden cladding from this period. Some of the rooms have painted ceilings and alcove beds that are decorated with the colorful fabrics of the area. The interior is a successful mix of old, refurbished furniture and pieces from a sustainable Swedish wooden furniture manufacturer. The rooms are decorated with traditional fabrics and art and handicrafts from different countries.
FoodLovingly prepared "slow food" dishes made from 100% organic food ensure a natural feeling and well-being. The dishes always consist of a pure mixture of raw and cooked components, often with a touch of Japanese cuisine. Vegetarian and vegan options are possible. For breakfast, for example, there is porridge made from whole grain oatmeal with freshly collected berries. And the ingredients such as meat, fish, vegetables, cheese and the drinks also mostly come from the surrounding area, just like the reindeer meat and the eggs of their own chickens. The hard-working bees produce the honey in the beehive in the garden.
Per and Evalotta Ersson run the hotel as a family business. Only in the summer months do they hire additional employees who can enjoy the hotel's saunas in addition to wages and free meals. The Erssons support ecological projects in Sweden and internationally. On site, they also participated in the initiative to organize safety vests for school children, which has already prevented many accidents.
EnvironmentThe hotel supplies one third of its own energy via solar panels and care is taken to avoid waste and to save energy. The chickens play a large part in the ecological recycling cycle as residual value converters.
Well-BeingThere is an electric sauna in the house and a wood-burning one at the lake. And the lake itself invites you to take a refreshing morning bath to welcome the day. Massages and foot care treatments can be booked on request and there is a yoga studio in the village, where in summer there are open groups with different offers at least once a week.
