Only accessible by cable car or hiking trails, the village of Rasa with the Casarasa is a true paradise of peace and quiet. There is no road and no cars. You wake up in the silence, hearing the sounds of nature and admiring the starry night sky. The accommodation overlooks the village with the church and the mountain peaks beyond, illuminated by the rising sun.
The village lies on a balcony in the Centovalli and is surrounded by the legendary Swiss mountains. On the morning sun side, guests can see meadows where animals graze, on the southwest side they can see the impressive massif of the Ghiridone and behind them the Valais Alps - panorama is really important here. The village is under homeland protection and has therefore been preserved originally.
The strong presence of nature is varied, impressive and sometimes dramatic and different in every season. The Centovalli has not really been discovered by tourism yet. There are many small, old villages that cling to the mountain slopes and are therefore a popular starting point for very beautiful and long hikes, which you can end down in the valley at the many refreshing river bathing spots.
Casarasa is a big house. It was important to the two hosts, Christoph and Rita, to preserve the character and charm while at the same time making it livable again. The furnishings are adapted to the shape of the old house. All rooms are designed and furnished differently. Old furniture that was still in the house was renovated and reused and supplemented with new pieces. Overall, it's kept plain and simple.
The apartment is on the top two floors of the house. The rooms are rather small and cosy. The view from all windows is wide and varied.
There is also a small petting zoo next to the house and with luck and patience there are many animals to be observed in nature, such as green lizards, sand lizards, deer, deer, chamois, foxes, badgers, dormice or martens.

ArchitectureThe Casarasa is an old Ticino stone house, around 250 years old. The whole house was built in the traditional way - the stone roofs are made of local stones, the roof construction is made of wood from the nearby forest. During the renovation, materials from the region that were as natural as possible were used and regional craftsmen were involved who are familiar with the traditional construction method (stone roofs, dry stone walls).
EnvironmentThe water comes from the village's own spring. You can heat with an old soapstone stove and the wood for it comes from the surrounding forest. Old furniture has been renovated and new has been combined with old. The waste separation corresponds to the regulations of the region and there is also a compost.
