Flooded with warm sunlight and designed with a careful lighting concept, "Feelgood in Casa Pippo" in Puglia, Italy, offers everything you need for a breathtaking stay, including sea views from many rooms.
Nestled in an olive grove, the villa is somewhat secluded and is reached via a picturesque, approximately 300 meter long driveway - a path that increases the anticipation of arrival. Guests love the tranquility of the house, the concerts of cicadas in the summer heat, the sound of the infinity pool and the beautiful surrounding towns and restaurants.
The hosts Sabine and Hubert live in Lübeck, but have several points of residence where they rent out holiday homes. In just 12 months of construction from the groundbreaking to the finished house, not only over 160 square meters of covered house area with more than 350 square meters of terrace and pool areas were built on three different levels. In May 2023, the two were proud to welcome their first guests and have been offering a vacation away from the mainstream ever since.
At Casa Pippo, Apulia meets Hamburg, country life meets the big city. The hosts have consciously decided on a mix of styles between inside and outside. Outside it is called "Puglia" with white fronts, the typical cream-colored stone floor and brutal stone wall elements made from the local Pietra, which is beaten into shape on site and by hand. Inside it's more of a “Hamburg” style with modern yet comfortable elements. The line that runs through all rooms is the solid oak furniture with an anthracite-colored body, custom-made in the neighboring town of San Michele, which can be used as a built-in cupboard, kitchen elements or even as a desk. The dining table and the wooden elements in the bathroom are made from 300-year-old Hamburg oak, which stand on custom-made iron structures.
Due to the division into two completely independent houses (Casa and Piccolo), a variety of constellations are available to guests. Alone, as a couple, as a family or with a group of friends – no matter how many people come here, you always have enough privacy and the property is definitely all to yourself.

ArchitectureThe hosts built the house in harmony with nature. Only one olive tree had to be moved, otherwise the sightlines and rooms were planned so that the view of the sea past the trees was visible. The almost one hectare property is covered with around 40 olive trees and another 40 almond, fig, carob, pear and Nespola trees. These have been certified organic for 20 years. In autumn 2023, our own olive oil was harvested for the first time, which guests receive in the welcome basket with regional wine, pasta, sugo and much more.
The pool was built in an area as far from the shade as possible so that it can lie in the sun all day and benefit from the natural warming.
Collected lumber was brushed out by host Hubert and converted into very individual design lamps using modern concrete lamps or original glass bottles. He used the same wood for the towel racks. During the final construction phase, Sabine painted all the pictures for the house so that the color concept continued on the walls. The stucco (plaster) of the construction workers, some Charubbe fruits and large wooden cooking spoons are used on the stretcher frame.
Without exception, all craft businesses and building materials come from a radius of a maximum of 50 kilometers - the carpenter from San Michele, the construction company from Carovigno and the neighboring town, as well as the steel workers, electricians, plumbers and pool builders. The windows come from Monopoli and the stone dealer for the great outdoor flooring comes from Ostuni. The rustic stone walls are made from the region's hand-cut pietra. The Casa is also complemented by some furniture from the local antique market.
FoodCasa Pippo offers a “Rent a Cook” who, if desired, buys and cooks local specialties from local traders in the holiday home. But even without your own chef, there are a variety of great restaurants of different stripes in the area. But even if you don't have your own chef, there are plenty of great restaurants of all kinds in the area. Whether it's a simple pizzeria, an urban osteria or a Michelin restaurant (there are 3 star restaurants in the immediate vicinity alone) - you will find the wide range of vegetables in the antipasto della casa variations everywhere.
The house is named after the foundling dog Pippo from Ostuni. In 2018, the hosts adopted him. Since then, they have been supporting the animal protection association with sponsorships and donations.
EnvironmentWith an impressive 8.2 kWp photovoltaic system with a powerful 15 kW storage unit, the hosts are committed to sustainable energy generation. This is complemented by an efficient heat pump and their own water extraction from a well. A further step towards environmental friendliness is waste separation and the use of an A+++ energy efficiency class air conditioning system. The special feature: Both the air conditioning and the underfloor heating can be conveniently controlled remotely via app to make sensible use of resources.
To counteract the overabundance of bought bread, the hosts collect and dry it and then give it to the neighbour's donkeys, goats and chickens just a few hundred metres away.
On arrival, the welcome manager points out the efficient air conditioning system which, thanks to its speed, does not have to be on all day. After two days, guests receive further friendly information and an update on consumption, which clearly presents all the details of their electricity consumption via the app. When it comes to the loving design, the accommodation relies on upcycling - from timber for unique lamps and towel rails, as well as charming finds from the antique market.
Well-BeingCasa Pippo offers a 54 square meter salt water pool that can be heated in the colder seasons (for a fee): 40 square meter pure swimming area with a depth of 1.50 meters throughout and a 14 square meter shallow water and stair area. The pool can be closed with an electric taparella (slat cover) at night (especially in the cooler period before it cools down and to conserve resources). This means that instead of 3.5 degrees in October, there is a loss of just 0.5 degrees, which of course no longer occurs The hosts will also be happy to put you in touch with a Dutch masseuse who will bring her equipment to Casa Pippo to provide the perfect end to a long day of sightseeing or a strenuous bike trip with relaxation or sports massages.
