Casa Leonardo

Senterado (Lleida), Catalonia, Spain

Casa Leonardo, a charming country house in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, is a place where history and nature come together in a unique way.

In the morning, guests awaken to the gentle song of birds flying merrily in the trees, while the Bòssia River burbles peacefully by the house. The landscape changes with the seasons: spring enchants with blooming meadows, summer brings golden mountains, autumn reveals warm forest tones, and in winter, snow envelops everything in a tranquil blanket.

Since 1913, Casa Leonardo has been more than just a place to stay. It's the village inn, a meeting place for locals and travelers where stories are shared. It's also the home of host Mireia Font i Vidal's grandparents, the place where she grew up. She wanted to share her paradise so that others could also experience the peace and beauty she found here.

Casa Leonardo was opened with the vision of offering guests a place where they could escape the fast-paced pace of everyday life and connect with nature, tradition, and community. The aim was to create an authentic atmosphere where visitors would feel at home and enjoy the tranquility of the Catalan Pyrenees. While preserving the spirit of the house, which has been cultivated for four generations, while promoting sustainability.

Each of the house's ten rooms tells its own story and reflects the connection to the region by combining historic elements with restored furnishings. The bar was opened as a social gathering place for locals and guests to laugh, chat, and enjoy time together.

Sustainable

ArchitectureCasa Leonardo combines architecturally modernist elements dating back to 1913 with traditional Pyrenean materials. The renovations preserved the original character while incorporating sustainable solutions such as local stone, wood, and dry-stone walls. All antique furniture was restored and partially supplemented with pieces from neighbors. Collaboration with local artisans preserves the authenticity of the house while promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.

FoodSeasonal, local, and organic food is the focus. Some of the vegetables are grown in the property's own garden, and food waste is composted on-site to regenerate the soil in the gardens and beds. Although the proportion of organic ingredients varies according to season and availability, each dish reflects a commitment to the environment and local agriculture. The heart of the cuisine is the host's mother, who passed on her knowledge from her own mother. The dishes are simple but full of warmth and reminiscent of childhood flavors. Classics such as girella, Tupí cheese, trinxat, and requesón with honey transport you back to simpler times, marked by love and tradition.

Casa Leonardo places great emphasis on year-round employment and local involvement. Through ecotourism experiences such as "El Cinquè Llac" the property promotes equity, inclusion, and sustainable working practices, supports the local economy, and contributes to reducing seasonality. Employees are also actively involved in social and environmental initiatives, transforming them into brand ambassadors. The property also supports two significant social projects: "Senterada Comestible", a community garden promoting sustainability and local food sovereignty, and "Gratitud Pallars", which supports local environmental initiatives. Both projects strengthen the connection between guests, the local community, and nature, contributing to long-term positive social and environmental change.

EnvironmentAt Casa Leonardo, recycling is done using traditional tupins. Energy consumption is optimized through a smart system. Water is conserved with sensor-controlled faucets, and food waste is composted on-site to nourish the garden and orchards. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are also used.
