“Panorama tent” - that's the new highlight of the Bakkum campsite. But because the tents are almost completely transparent, so that you have a 360 ° panoramic view of the surrounding dunes and the sky and can see the moon and the stars at night. Don't worry, a privacy screen is also integrated. The tents are distributed in a small area surrounded by bushes and look like small aluminum space stations on a distant planet from the outside, but inside they are comfortably lined with light wood and equipped with bed, dining area and a small kitchen. In front of the tents there are picnic tables with sun protection. Otherwise everything is like normal camping. Sand underfoot, salt on the skin and a shower are in the shared bathhouses of the complex. Camping Bakkum is located in the middle of the North Holland Dune Reserve, one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands of 5300 hectares from which almost all of North Holland is supplied with drinking water. Here you can take magical walks and hikes through forests and heathlands. There are brooks and small ponds to discover and the sea beckons along. You can only enter the area with a special dune card, which every visitor to the camping area receives at check-in.

Sustainable
ArchitectureLooks like a silver igloo or a space station in the middle of nowhere or on an alien planet. But is simply a visually striking tent on a platform that has been specially designed for Bakkum Camping. The nice thing about it are the many windows through which the sky and the stars shine through during the day and at night, so that you can always feel a bit like outside. The interior design has been made simple and airy with lots of light wood.
Every summer from 12th to 15th July, a four-day festival takes place at Camping Bakkum for guests, but especially for all residents of the region, where already established artists but also new talents show performances in the field of singing, dance, cabaret and theater. The campsite employees receive regular training in various areas of their work areas and also in the area of sustainable use of cleaning agents, waste separation and avoidance and reuse of materials. The campsite is a recognized training company with its own accommodation for the interns. Of course, employees can use the offers of the campsite in their leisure time at reduced rates or even free of charge or go on vacation here.
EnvironmentThe Bakkum campsite is located in the middle of the dune reserve of North Holland and therefore bears a great responsibility. For this reason, a “green business plan” was drawn up here in collaboration with the PWN, which is responsible for looking after the area. As a result, as many materials as possible are reused, the waste is consistently separated and the employees move around the premises with bicycles or electric vehicles. Some of the sanitary buildings are equipped with a gray water system. Here, for example, the toilet is flushed with collected rainwater. Water-saving water and shower taps are installed everywhere and, of course, biodegradable cleaning products are used. Gas and electricity come from eco-providers and there are several camping pitches that are deliberately not equipped with electricity. Because more and more campers are equipped with their own alternative energy sources.
Well-BeingAt Camping Bakkum there are various fitness options, a fitness trail across the entire site, a boules alley and, of course, water sports on the beach. The salty sea air does the rest to relax body, mind and soul.
