Bühelwirt

St. Jakob im Ahrntal, South Tyrol, Italy

The Bühelwirt in the Ahrntal is a place of power in the mountains that combines tradition and modernity. Guests can breathe a sigh of relief, experience the originality of nature and enjoy the perfect break from everyday life far from the hustle and bustle of the world. Rest and relaxation are guaranteed in the small town of Sankt Jakob in the north of South Tyrol.

Michaela took over the "old lady", as she calls the Bühelwirt, from her grandparents and began to convert him. Today, she and her husband Matthias run the hotel together and have dared to counter the old style with modern architecture. A modern addition to the old parent company based on designs by the architects Armin and Alexander Pedevilla was added, which is flooded with light and offers a great contrast in a very puristic way.

Strength and inspiration can be found in the wellness area. In summer as well as in winter, the Bühelwirt offers numerous excursions into the surrounding nature.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe architecture can be described as traditional and at the same time modern. An attempt was made to concentrate on the essentials and at the same time to create a unique hotel with convincing clarity and simplicity. This was done in collaboration with the pedevilla architects. Mainly, sustainable building materials and natural materials such as wood, clay plaster and loden fabrics were used. The interior of the rooms comes primarily from local designers.

FoodRegional, seasonal and sometimes organic products are served, or what grows in your own garden. In the morning, guests can look forward to a good morning breakfast with homemade products. A small hiking snack is provided for excursions and mountain tours. Dinner starts with a vitamin salad bar with a large selection and antipasti. You can then choose from three starters and three main courses, whereby one of the menus is always vegetarian, and a vegan menu is also available on request. Food intolerance is taken into account individually. If the chef is asked, he is particularly happy to recommend homemade parsley spaghetti with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, beetroot dumplings on a bacon-cream herb or homemade goat cheese nocchi with fresh mushrooms and pesto. Guests also receive fresh Ahrntaler spring water, which is also provided in every room. The qualified sommelier Matthias Haller ensures a professional recommendation of regional wines, beers and distillates (not included).

EnvironmentThe predominant building material used is wood, which has been combined with local materials. There is a district heating plant in the valley that provides heat (wood chips) and there is a solar system for the hot water. A floor heating system with economical energy consumption is also used. Special attention is paid to waste separation and recycling. A separate pool was deliberately omitted in order to keep energy consumption as low as possible. Instead of mineral and natural water bottles, a water filter system was installed and reusable water bottles were purchased.

Well-BeingAt the Bühelwirt you can enjoy a spacious wellness area with a 12 m² panoramic sauna. A wellness bag with sauna towels, slippers and bathrobe are included. Only certified organic natural cosmetics are used. A large relaxation room with mountain views and the outdoor sunbathing lawn allow you to perfectly unwind. Pleasant massages can be booked for a fee. Guests receive free admission to the "Cascade" swimming pool in nearby Sand in Taufers.
