Nestled amidst olive groves, about five kilometers from Cortona's old town, lies the Agriturismo Borgo di Cortona. From the pool, the view stretches far across the Val di Chiana, over green hills, cypress trees, and to the mountains on the horizon. The surroundings are peaceful, yet small villages, vineyards, and some of Tuscany's most beautiful cities are easily accessible.
The farmhouse dates back to 1850. Agriculture was practiced here in the past, with olive cultivation playing a particularly important role. Today, Claudia and Ralf live on the property and have been running the Borgo since April 2025. Originally from Germany, they deliberately chose this location for its expansive views and the special atmosphere of the old estate. They want to show their guests Tuscany not only as a holiday destination but also to share a piece of their own daily life: personal, uncomplicated, and with helpful tips for excursions in the surrounding area. Claudia has completed her training as a Professional Agricultural Entrepreneur (IAP) and brings sound agricultural expertise to the work on the farm.
The four apartments, two of which are located in the old main house, are all individually designed, bright, and spacious. Natural colors, clean lines, and carefully chosen details give them a modern, homey feel. At the same time, there is plenty of private space. Guests can spend the day by the pool, stroll through the olive groves, or take a trip to Cortona. Those who wish can join Ralf and his dog Mavie for a walk to a café or into town.
Agriculture remains an integral part of life at the Borgo. Olive oil is produced from the farm's own olives and was awarded the "Equilibrio" title in 2025 by the municipality of Cortona and regional olive oil experts. Guests can also purchase homemade jams and pesto on site. Once a week, a dinner featuring stone-baked pizza and vegetables from the farm's own garden is offered upon request. This creates opportunities to chat with each other without turning the holiday into a group activity.
If you do feel like venturing out, destinations like Arezzo, Montepulciano, Siena, and Lake Trasimeno are within easy reach. The Borgo is a great base for exploring Tuscany, and equally a place where you can simply relax and unwind.

The farmhouse, dating back to 1850, was renovated with great care to preserve its original character. Wherever possible, old windows and furniture were refurbished and reused instead of being discarded. Local ties were also a factor in selecting the tradespeople: all of them come from the region, and some have known the property for decades.
Everything grown on the grounds of Borgo di Cortona is used as completely as possible: figs become chutney, other fruits become jam, herbs become pesto, and the olives become the farm's own olive oil. No harmful substances are used for pest control. Although the farm isn't certified organic, Claudia and Ralf are committed to using the most natural methods possible. They source their cheese and sausage from local producers. Since the four apartments are equipped with their own kitchens, guests are self-sufficient. Those who would like to take something from the farm home can find olive oil, jam, pesto, and fig chutney at reception. Once a week, everyone is invited to a pizza night. The pizzas are topped with vegetables from the farm's own garden, and guests can sample the farm's own olive oil.
The permanent team includes a gardener and a cleaner from Cortona. The collaboration is personal and uncomplicated – this also includes occasionally having a drink together after work.
Waste is meticulously separated into glass, plastic, paper, residual waste, and organic waste, and cleaning is done exclusively with eco-friendly cleaning products. The plants have their own water source. A drip irrigation system is used, delivering water precisely to the plants via perforated hoses. Claudia and Ralf also prioritize responsible use of the air conditioning: consumption is billed separately. This is intended to encourage guests to use the cooling only when absolutely necessary. Furthermore, the Borgo is a member of CIA Camucia, a regional agricultural association that advocates for the interests of farms in Tuscany.
The accommodation has a pool that offers sweeping views over the Val di Chiana and the Tuscan hills.
