Bio und Reiterhof der Veitenhof

Niederthai, Tyrol, Austria

The operators of the Veitenhof say that their guests are often surprised at how quickly a wonderful feeling of relaxation sets in. Here you immediately feel like you have arrived, as a friend - not as a guest. The location of the Veitenhof certainly contributes to this comfortable feeling: located in the Tyrolean Ötztal, the Veitenhof is an oasis in the middle of the rural idyll. The spectacular view from the terrace will make you forget all your worries. From there you have a direct view of the Ötztal mountains and glaciers. Against this magnificent backdrop, parents can send their children out into the beautiful nature to play and romp around without worry. The Veitenhof is an ideal starting point for hikes and climbing. Very close by is Tyrol's largest waterfall, the Ötzi village with its archaeological open-air park, the bird of prey park, and a beautiful swimming lake. In winter, snow reliably falls at this altitude: this means skiing, cross-country skiing and snow playgrounds for children are guaranteed. The entire range of winter sports in Niederthai can be used free of charge by guests of the Veitenhof. A highlight for horse fans is the farm's own Haflinger breeding. Rides, riding lessons and horse-drawn carriage rides with the well-behaved animals are very popular with young and old. The many other animals that can be petted also make children's eyes light up. After all the activities, you can then fortify yourself with good home-style cooking in the nearby inn. Great importance is placed on regionality and only local products are used. The new, beautiful wellness area ensures optimal relaxation: whether sauna, Kneipp pool, barefoot path, fitness room or massage - there is something for everyone here. Of course, you can also just sit on the terrace and enjoy the sun.

We also featured this accommodation on our blog in Five Places for Winter Sports . You can read more about the region in our country special.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe building was built in 1968 in the typical Tyrolean style. It was renovated in 1989. The owners Michael and Margreth Leiter regularly renovate and renew individual areas of the farm, using mainly natural materials such as clay plaster, wood or felt. The apartments were renovated in 2018. They offer plenty of space and are very cozy and furnished with lots of wood. The large common room is flooded with light and beautifully furnished. A special highlight is the terrace, which offers a spectacular view of the mountains.

FoodThe hosts rely without compromise on 100% organic food, much of which comes from their own farm and from the region. Organic vegetables and herbs from the garden, jams, bread and syrups from their own production. They offer a breakfast (for 6 people or more) with their own products and organic food, mainly from the region, an organic snack for on the go (for a small additional charge), which can be easily put together yourself at breakfast, water vitalized with Pichler technology, garden - everything 100% organic - guests can help themselves to it at any time.

The operators of the Veitenhof support local social projects and are particularly committed to the children in their community. Michael is involved in the volunteer fire department and the volunteer mountain rescue service.

EnvironmentThe operators describe the Veitenhof as 98 percent sustainable. The electricity used is green electricity, the heat comes from a solar and wood heating system and all food is from controlled organic cultivation. Of course, all waste is separated and this is also expected of the guests. Since spring 2022 there has also been a photovoltaic system. A charging station is also available for guests arriving by electric car.

Well-BeingDeep relaxation, satisfaction and well-being do not arise from isolated activities, but from a holistic view of body, mind and soul. The wellness program at Veitenhof therefore offers a wide range of options: whether Kneipp pool, barefoot path, herbal walks, fitness room, infrared cabin or massage - there is something for everyone here. In 2019, a new wellness area with sauna, infrared cabin, Kneipp pool, tea bar and pine panoramic relaxation room was built. Horseback riding or a carriage ride also ensure a very special relaxation.

Testimonials
