The Berglodge Laresch in the Swiss canton of Graubünden is set against the imposing backdrop of the Swiss mountains. In every season of the year, guests can enjoy an impressive holiday in nature: in summer it is colorful thanks to the many blooming flowers and trees, in winter it is deeply snowed.
Far away from mass tourism and at 1,520 meters above sea level, guests have breathtaking views of the untouched nature of the mountain landscapes. Here you can escape everyday life and enjoy a relaxing stay.
The accommodation is run by Marianne Peyer and Lukas Hug, who made it their task in 2016 to create a natural retreat. Both of them spent many vacations in the village of Mathon and ended up there again by chance. The vision behind Berglodge Laresch is to enable sustainable tourism through the use of local and natural products and materials. In addition, Marianne and Lukas carried out the planning of the resource-saving house largely on their own. The result is a beautiful mountain lodge, which was later supplemented by a tiny house.
The tiny house made of wood and clay is small and fine and inside there is a cozy and modern ambience. Not least thanks to the modern furnishings: natural materials meet minimalist pieces of furniture by Scandinavian designers.

When choosing the materials, it was important for the hosts to reflect the authenticity of the natural landscape in the architecture of the accommodation. The lodge and the tiny house were built in a modern and sustainable way using local and natural materials such as wood, stone, wool, clay and lime. The so-called full moon wood from the Graubünden region was used as the basic building material. Another special feature is the insulation of the tiny house, which is made entirely of sheep's wool. The lodge, completely plastered from clay, blends inconspicuously into the natural surroundings of the mountain landscape and at the same time ensures a natural indoor climate. Only local providers were considered in the construction.
In the Berglodge Laresch, guests are only served local, regional and seasonal organic products. Eggs, meat, milk, cheese and many other ingredients come from neighboring farms. All food is processed by hand by the hosts, such as bread, jam, kimchi and preserves. Vegetarians, vegans and people with food intolerances are taken into consideration.
Sustainability plays an important role for the Berglodge Laresch and its hosts: the energy for the operation of the lodge and the tiny house is generated by photovoltaic and geothermal systems. The energy gained and its consumption are reduced to a minimum through optimally insulated windows. The same applies to the hot water consumption, which is controlled by modern flow limiters. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure sufficient warmth in the summer months. By using only natural building materials such as wood, stone, clay and lime, Marianne and Lukas have managed to coexist in harmony with the sensitive Alpine landscape.
