Beniaskie!

Bieniasze, Warmia-Masuria, Poland

Beniaskie! is located in the midst of untouched nature—surrounded by fields, meadows, and forests, and directly on the lake.

On the opposite side, the sun rises over the manor house's woods, while in the distance, a tractor might chug leisurely along the village path. Here, you can rediscover the joys of slowness – stoking the fireplace, grinding beans with Grandma's coffee grinder, or daydreaming on the jetty by the water. Those reading a book from the library in a hammock under the willows will enjoy the silence, which is so profound at night that city dwellers often need a while to get used to.

Beniaskie! was born out of the desire to share a place of tranquility with like-minded people. Two identical cottage apartments under a single long roof offer ample space for families, couples, or grandparents with grandchildren – together, yet with enough room for everyone. Wood and warm natural tones dominate the interior, complemented by jute, ceramics, cast iron, and fine fabrics. Plastics and chemicals have been largely avoided to create an environment where body and mind can completely unwind.

Daylight floods in through large windows and French doors, bringing nature into the house. Inside, the fire crackles in the fireplace, while outside, storks fly over the fields, cranes call, and the lake sparkles in the sun—a backdrop for a holiday full of peace, nature, and unpretentious beauty.

The surrounding area is also ideal for exploring: marked cycling and hiking trails lead through fields and forests to secluded lakes. Bicycles are available, and for more challenging routes, a mountain bike is a good idea. The barn offers space for bikes and fishing equipment. On the other side of the property stretches Wuksniki Lake, with its clear waters one of the deepest lakes in Warmia and Masuria—a special place, also for divers.

Sustainable

ArchitectureWood dominates the architecture, while large glass surfaces throughout offer views of the greenery. The furniture is made of untreated natural wood, protected only with linseed oil. Not a single tree was felled for construction, and 99.8% of the site remains unsealed. The wood used comes largely from regional forests and sawmills, and the timber frame was crafted by a local carpenter. Many other works, both inside and out, were carefully completed by the owner.

FoodThose who like can have carefully selected products delivered directly from small producers or cycle to Wiola's farm around the corner to harvest the freshest produce in season. A longer tour takes you to a permaculture farm that cultivates ancient, rare varieties. The neighbors' Herefords graze next door – 100% grass-fed and dry-aged for several weeks. In summer, juicy burgers and T-bones with fresh garden vegetables land on the grill; in winter, a fondue bourguignonne made with tender fillet or a vegetarian version with the region';s outstanding "Ermländer" cheese is celebrated in front of the fireplace – slow food at its finest.

EnvironmentFrom homemade natural washing milk to collecting and reusing materials like screw-top jars, which are given to local farmers and later returned filled with homemade delicacies. Responsibility is also taken in the surrounding area, whether in maintaining the lakeshore or preserving the waterways. Guests receive the Beniaskie! Sustainability Guide, which provides insights into these initiatives and shows how they can contribute themselves.

Well-BeingAt the edge of the forest, built entirely of wood and covered with a shingle roof, stands a small wood-fired sauna overlooking the lake. A few steps down the slope is the chill-down deck, with a hole sawn into the ice in winter.
