The first sight falls on a beautiful half-timbered house with a large water wheel. Here is the reception of the tree house hotel, where you will be greeted in a friendly and helpful manner. The forest begins about a hundred meters further on. During three years of planning and another three years of construction, owner Stephan Schulze lovingly and meticulously created a gem in nature with a total of ten themed tree houses. It was opened in 2016.
Although tree house is actually the wrong word, because it is more about luxury and feel-good apartments in nature, surrounded by old oaks and beeches. The rooms impress with their comfort in a perfectly handcrafted wood ambience. Even during the slightly cooler days, there is a cozy atmosphere and comfort in the houses.
The houses are between five and 12 meters high - so visitors should have a head for heights! Anyone who goes up the wooden stairs will be rewarded with a great view of the countryside and the Waizenbach as it meanders through the romantic valley. Within minutes, a feeling of relaxation and deceleration spreads. At night you can see the treetops and the starry sky from your bed.
On the site there is a nicely furnished house that serves as a play, reading and community room. Refreshments can also be bought here. Otherwise, food can be obtained from the nearby village shop. Or you can eat out in one of the numerous restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet in the half-timbered house is rich and varied. You can also have breakfast brought to the tree house by pulley.
The "Schäferwagen" offers an extraordinary wellness experience; a large, comfortably furnished trailer with a built-in sauna. Afterwards you can refresh yourself in the natural bathing pond. There is also a beautiful sun terrace with loungers, a HotPot and a Kneipp facility.
In the surrounding nature reserves of Schondratal and Sodenberg, the Spessart nature park and the Rhön biosphere reserve, you can hike and relax wonderfully. The natural monument and geotop waterfall Tretstein is only 900 meters away.

ArchitectureAll accommodations were built in a strictly ecological and ecological manner, taking into account strict sustainability criteria. Mainly local woods were used, such as the untreated spruce and larch wood in the tree houses and the oak floorboards, as well as natural materials such as the clay plaster in the mill and sea barn. The work was carried out as far as possible by regional craftsmen. All tree houses are lovingly and harmoniously furnished in different styles, from rustic-romantic in the style of a mountain pasture, to French chic or Scandinavian design, to completely designed by an artist. The rooms can be characterized as cosy, luxurious, natural, bright, friendly and inspiring. The historic mill, which is under monument protection, was professionally restored using historic building materials and, in addition to a very special charm, offers a very healthy room climate. The large, imposing mill wheel at the mill house was extensively restored and put back into operation. A large part of the electricity for the hotel complex is produced here.
FoodThe breakfast consists of regional and fresh products, which come from regional suppliers as far as possible, such as the cheese from a neighboring organic cheese dairy. The bread is occasionally baked in our own bakery. Otherwise self-catering applies, shops and restaurants are nearby.
The employees have a particularly "airy" workplace in the Baumhaushotel Seemühle. In addition, they are granted a large degree of co-determination and participation. The company values transparency and good communication. Fair payment with a share of sales, the provision of work clothes and a highly motivated team are also part of the working conditions. The operators of the tree house hotel offer a very special platform through the hotel to get in touch with like-minded people - for this purpose a meeting place in the form of an old farmer's cottage has been restored and tastefully furnished according to historical models. Conferences, events and get-togethers for school classes and facilities for the disabled take place here on a regular basis. The company sponsors various projects in the area of needy children as well as local associations.
EnvironmentThe operators want to offer guests a natural and climate-friendly overnight and stay experience in an oasis of calm. Numerous measures are implemented to protect the environment. The natural bathing pond is also a valuable biotope. Numerous insect hotels and nesting boxes for bats have been set up in the forest. A large part of the electricity for the hotel complex is produced by the restored mill wheel. In addition, the company supplies itself from its own drinking water source and operates the hotel's own sewage treatment plant. Garbage is consistently separated, and guests are encouraged to do the same. For reasons of sustainability, an exchange of towels and bed linen is only carried out at the request of the guests. An electric vehicle is used for shuttle rides for guests as well as for luggage and material transport. By using e-vehicles, which are operated with self-generated hydroelectric power, the company saves 10 tons of CO2 emissions per year compared to the use of fossil-fuelled cars.
Well-BeingThe "Schäferwagen" offers an extraordinary wellness experience; a large, comfortably furnished trailer with a built-in sauna. Afterwards you can refresh yourself in the natural bathing pond. There is also a beautiful sun terrace with loungers, a HotPot and a Kneipp facility.
