Let your mind wander, climb apple trees, kick dew - the vacation apartments in the idyllic village of Reetzow on the island of Usedom offer all this and much more.
It was love at first sight, says operator Anke Frey. She always wanted to go to the sea, her husband Robert preferred to go to the mountains. In the "Usedom Alps" they have found an ideal location and created a small holiday paradise out of an overgrown garden plot.
Together, the couple planned and built holiday apartments for people who do not simply want to live on holiday, but who value a place of rest and relaxation; as it were sustainable and inspiring. The apartments are characterised by a modern country house style: a mixture of modern architecture and rural cosiness, clear shapes and natural materials, high-quality furnishings with solid wood furniture. Here you arrive and feel comfortable.
From the balcony, guests can see the eponymous apple trees, the Thurbruch nature reserve and the stork nest in the village. The fruit bushes and trees bloom in the garden. What is ripe can be eaten. In the evening and at dusk, guests can observe numerous swallows and bats.
The "Apfelgarten" is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike tours. The whole island of Usedom is a nature park and the Usedom hinterland is beautiful. From the village you can reach the backwaters, the three imperial baths or a detour to Swinoujscie (Poland). The cycle path in the footsteps of the painter Lyonel Feiningers goes right past the village. In the neighboring town of Benz there is a restored Dutch windmill that can be visited. The Baltic Sea beach is only four kilometers away, which can be reached by bike in about 20 minutes.
The cold winter days can also be spent well in the Apfelgarten apartments: the surrounding fields and forests invite you to take long walks in the clear air. Stoves and saunas in the apartments are waiting for you to warm up.

ArchitectureThe apartments were built in the middle of the small village of Reetzow - on the former meadow of the farm opposite. The existing trees were preserved during the planning. The Apfelgarten was built with regional companies and, for example, deliberately no tropical wood was used. The wooden facade is painted with a linseed oil paint based on the Swedish model. Modern country house style characterizes the apartments: a mixture of modern architecture and rural cosiness, clear shapes and natural materials, high-quality furnishings with solid wood furniture. All furniture and objects are of high quality and are designed for durability. A specialty is the wonderfully beautiful garden, which is based on the idea of the cottage garden.
EnvironmentThe Apfelgarten is a very swallow and bat friendly house. There is even a built "bat hotel" on the facade. There are many bee-friendly plants in the garden and the lawn can sometimes be so long that you can make endless daisy chains. Snail grain and chemistry are taboo. There is a rainwater cistern and its own organic sewage treatment plant. The Apfelgarten uses solar collectors (solar thermal) to heat drinking water. Green electricity and gas are purchased from Lichtblick. Guests are asked to separate the garbage. There are containers for this in the apartments and at the garbage yard.
