Ad Austrum

La Capelle-et-Masmolène, Provence, France

The luxurious country house Ad Austrum perfectly represents the south of France in the picturesque village of La Capelle-et-Masmolène. The name Ad Austrum comes from Latin and means "to the south", which also reflects the intention of the host, namely to spend a relaxing time in peace.

There are no shops or cafes in the village itself, but there are stone houses and lots of nature that are typical of the region. The house dates from the 17th century and was formerly a kind of farmhouse, in which the animals were housed on the ground floor and the owners themselves lived on the upper floors. The owner bought the house eight years ago and renovated it by hand over two years and redesigned it in a modern way. In doing so, it pursued the goal of creating a place where guests feel comfortable, have time to relax and can enjoy nature in a holistic manner. She maintains a decelerated lifestyle and exemplifies this for her guests. For the hostess, time means pure luxury. She also says that in southern France, the clocks tick differently than in big cities, and that's exactly what vacation is for her - the opposite of the stressful everyday life.

Breakfast can be taken relaxed on the terrace and the private small pool ensures pleasant cooling in summer. Twice a week, always on Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a market in the nearby neighboring town where regional products can be bought.
