Woods & Wine

As, Limburg, Belgium

Woods & Wine in the Limburg region stands for Slow Travel. The sustainable bed and breakfast has three beautiful rooms and a cozy lounge with a wine bar. The historic house from 1860 is located in Flanders' largest national park "Hoge Kempen", which was once a coal mining area. The bicycle network in the area includes more than 2000 kilometers of cycle paths.

The cordial American-Belgian couple - Eron and Peter - searched for the right home for a long time and found it 25 years ago and have since expanded it beautifully. There's a lovely courtyard with a fire pit and a pretty good wine selection, so you can bike around by day and then sip a fine red wine in the evening. Or you can stroll around the grounds with a morning coffee to say “Goedendag” to the horses, chickens, dogs and the adorable house pig Betsy.

Rooms are decorated in soothing shades of gray and green -- including beautiful wallpaper that reflects the room names, and each has a story. The palm tree print floral wallpaper is inspired by Eron's native Florida, the bird wallpaper matches the many birds on the property and the forest wallpaper represents the adjacent national park. The tasteful vintage furniture is mostly made of wood, the beds are extremely comfortable and indirect light ensures a pleasant lighting atmosphere. You just have to feel good here between forest and wine.
