After a winding journey through the magnificent mountains of the Surselva in the north-west of Graubünden, the Hotel Ucliva seems to look a little impishly at the arriving visitors like a friendly being, to say with a wink, beautiful, are you finally here, I already have waited a long time for you And as soon as you get out, you find yourself in a natural, well-kept environment. Either with crunching snow and steaming breath or surrounded by bright geraniums, colorful butterflies and accompanied by the unmistakable whistle of the Milanese circling in the sky.
When you enter the Hotel Uclivas, a pleasant feeling spreads and you can feel the simplicity of the hotel, which was founded in 1983 as the first eco-hotel in Switzerland and thus became a pioneer. The hotel is owned by Corporaziun Ucliva with around 900 members. The basic ecological idea has been consistently continued since the beginning. Local, regional, seasonal and organic products come fresh to the plate at Ucliva.
The hotel was extensively renovated in 2010 using natural building materials. The views from the generously designed and bright rooms promise mountains, forest and lots of sky. They are comfortably furnished, with lots of wood, but still kept simple. And deliberately do without TV and radio. There are countless books, magazines and a number of family and board games available in the in-house library.
The Ucliva is a cultural and seminar hotel at the same time and offers a unique cultural program of readings, lectures, exhibitions and concerts in the Surselva. It is also a cooperation partner for all cultural events in the region.
Being consciously offline, the closeness to nature and hospitality are very important here and yet one feels in no way impaired in their freedom. On the contrary. In Ucliva, slowing down is easy, be it with a book and a cup of tea from the Puschlav or in the fresh air on the ski slope, which is a stone's throw from the hotel.
Families are just as welcome as art lovers, bookworms and older generations.

FoodThe breakfast buffet with homemade jams, freshly baked bread in all variations, organic eggs and honey is a pleasure! The housewives, farmers from the village or neighboring village bring what is ripe in their garden. Freshly harvested, it is served in the Ucliva kitchen and in the evening on the guests' plates. Most of the local suppliers are organic farmers. Don't miss: Pizzoccheri Gran Alpin (mountain grain from Graubünden / Surselva) and Capuns, another specialty from Graubünden. Vegan cuisine is becoming increasingly important. A vegan week (including cooking class, seminar, etc.) will be offered in May 2020.
EnvironmentSustainability, ecology and regionality are very important at Ucliva. It works with pellet heating, solar panels and heat recovery and the kitchen waste goes to the biogas plant in Cazis.
Well-BeingThere are relaxation areas, a very extensive library with many regional titles and authors and a sauna (please reserve). Massages can be booked individually in the village. The reception will be happy to help.
