The Kokkolit House is in a fantastic location in the Danish town of Klitmøller. The master bedroom of the house offers a view of Denmark's largest national park, sand dunes rise just 200 meters away, and another 100 meters lead directly to the sea. There are a variety of activities in the area, such as surfing, SUP, kiting, windsurfing, cycling, hiking and running.
This special house, cast from concrete with 24 corners, impresses with countless unique details. Floating beds, underfloor heating, a shower toilet as well as handmade cabinets, tables and other furniture make it a truly unique design. Helle and Thomas, who keep the house in their family, took three years to build it. It was completed in the summer of 2024, and they implemented 95 percent of the house themselves, from the design to the interior design.
The Nordic-modern style reflects their attention to detail and blends harmoniously into the surroundings. The couple enjoy sharing their home with guests and have created a great place to stay in their community of Klitmøller.

ArchitectureWith the North Sea in close proximity, it was important to create protection from the strong wind - hence the 24 corners of the house. A special feature is the reuse of all the wood that was originally used to support the concrete molds. This wood was cleverly processed inside and can now be found in the walls and furniture. Incidentally, around 80 percent of the materials used come from the region. Building with concrete has a high carbon footprint, which is why the house was designed to use a minimum of materials. The visible concrete is all that is there - there is no foundation and the walls are thinner than usual. Despite this minimalist approach, the house offers an impressive expected lifespan of over 100 years and requires almost no maintenance.
EnvironmentThe collected rainwater is used for both flushing toilets and washing, thereby reducing the ecological footprint.
