Staindlhof 1680

Waldkirchen, Bavaria, Germany

In the middle of the deep forest there is a magical house with a lot of history(s). Meadows, forests and deer ensure an authentic nature experience in the Bavarian Forest.

The hosts Florian Hartl and Florian Gugenhan have lovingly renovated the family's centuries-old house. The last resident was their great-aunt Maria, who lived there until she was 95 years old. They wanted to preserve the traditional building and make it accessible to guests. In doing so, they built a house within a house, so to speak. The historic shell was supplemented with a modern core. The interior was designed with restraint in order to bring the monument and the architecture to the fore.

The two spacious, bright holiday apartments are located in the former stable (Heustadl) and in the residential building (Walderhaus). The minimalist interior design made of wood, raw steel, glass and granite with individual color accents is timeless and natural at the same time. An old farmer's cupboard, a farmer's chest and a bench add accents to the history. The sophisticated lighting concept ensures a beautiful and extremely cozy atmosphere in all areas.

The professionally equipped kitchens with all kinds of accessories (fondue, raclette, crepe and waffle irons, wok, baking accessories, outdoor oven for cooking/grilling) and a large selection of spices and recipes enable joint cooking events. Depending on the season, you can pick a few ingredients from the herb garden, the fruit garden or the orchard. When the past, present and future form such a sustainable unity, it is a very special place for a holiday close to nature.

Sustainable

ArchitectureDuring the renovation, many things were repaired and only what was broken from the original structure was replaced. In order to make it clear which woods were replaced, these areas are also visible (keyword: "honest" renovation). The house-within-a-house concept during the renovation provides insights into the old, unadulterated structure and makes it clear what is old structure or what is new. The regional craftsmen used and recycled materials of natural origin (wood, insulation). The oak from the property was used for new furniture.

EnvironmentThere is an air-water heat pump and 100% green electricity. LED lamps and smart thermostats save additional energy. The guest soaps do not contain any plastic particles and outdoor lamps with little scattered light protect the animals. The water-saving devices and fittings, our own drinking water source and a small sewage treatment plant ensure enormous water savings. There is also a compost for organic waste in the garden.

Well-BeingThere is the SPA area (bakery) with Finnish sauna, wood-fired hot tub and spacious outdoor area for relaxation. In the past, bread was actually baked here - today, guests cook it here.
