A charming boutique hotel with an integrated cinema and a beautiful garden in the middle of Zurich. That sounds almost too good to be true. The "Signau House and Garden" can also come up with an exciting history and very illustrious guests like Martin Scorsese and Roger Moore (yes, James Bond). Because before the villa was converted into a hotel in 2018, there was a film production company in the building that had installed a cinema for their professional film screenings. And so today you spend the night, so to speak, where James Bond stayed.
The villa, which is more than a hundred years old, has been extensively renovated in accordance with the monument. The beautiful wood paneling of the dining room, the stucco elements and stone floors in the foyer, the checkerboard tiles on the veranda and the parquet in the drawing room were preserved or carefully restored. The ten rooms are individually designed. Tasteful wall colors, timeless design classics, high-quality wooden furniture and elegant antiques result in a successful mix of Swiss cosiness, English country house and modern hotel culture. The very private and intimate atmosphere and the warmth of the hosts also ensure relaxation. A special kind of aesthetic jewel in the middle of the big city.
The garden is something like the heart of the property and was reconstructed according to the original plans. Colorful flower beds, ancient trees, apricot trees and rare water lilies in the pond invite you to look and linger. In summer there are always cooking events with excellent chefs who exclusively present their menus here. In the garden you can drink a martini from the in-house bar - stirred or shaken - with a cinematic view of the magnificent water lilies.
