The Rössli in Mogelsberg is over 300 years old and has been run for over four decades as an ecohotel and organic restaurant. In 1978 it was bought by the then company cooperative and managed as a self-managed operation by a group that sprang from the 68 scene of the University of Zurich, successfully.
Today, the Rössli is owned by the association Rössli Mogelsberg and Sabine Bertin sole member. As the plant manager, she ensures harmony and the union of health, enjoyment, tradition and creativity, creating an oasis of well-being that repeatedly attracts numerous guests to Toggenburg again and again.
The 17 rooms are decorated according to the zodiac signs or the elements. The furniture is modern and harmoniously contrasts with the historic architecture of the house. All rooms have Hüsler nest beds and the sheets and terry towels are all made from organic cotton. From small and cozy to spacious and flooded with light, everything is in this charming house with its creaking wooden stairs. Every day, the Rössli team again focuses attention on the details. These little things create a mood that will make this house unforgettable.

ArchitectureThe Rössli Mogelsberg was first mentioned in writing in 1786 as a reformed inn. After serving as a post office for a while - the stone pegs are still visible in front of the house where the horses were tethered - a bakery was set up at the end of the 19th century, which is now housed in the outbuilding and the bread for the guests bakes. The Rössli is a traditional Toggenburg knitwear built entirely of wood. Both exterior and interior walls are constructed with up to 30 centimeters thick wooden beams. The house was renovated biologically and all the alterations and renovations comply with the guidelines of building biology. Local craftsmen helped with the conversion, using materials from the region.
FoodThe Rössli organizes a biological, seasonal and regional gourmet cuisine and is a member of Slow Food Switzerland. Herbs and edible flowers come from their own gardens and the wild herbs from the surrounding meadows and forests. It is all home-made and convenience products find no place here. Of course, there are also vegetarian and vegan dishes. Each menu consists of five courses and the dessert plate of about eight small appetizers. Most of the ingredients come from the region and vegetables and fruits are seasonal. The dishes assigned to the individual months relate to what nature has to offer in the course of the year in Switzerland. Incidentally, Sabine Bertin has published a wonderful cookbook with 60 dishes from the Rössli kitchen, which can be boiled down with just a few ingredients and little effort. The seasonality and the targeted selection of high-quality ingredients play a central role here.
The team is the most important capital of the Rössli. It is characterized by enjoyment of work and good interaction. This makes you feel at home in the Rössli. Wishes will be received whenever possible.
EnvironmentThe Rössli has been an ecohotel and organic restaurant for over four decades. The heating is connected to the central wood chip heating in the village. As is essential for an ecohotel, all waste is separated. Of course, the treatment of employees is also sustainable.
