Between Comporta and the Costa Vicentina, futuristic capsules and modern wooden bungalows form an exciting optical mix - glamping like in a picture book. The ecological boutique resort "Reserva Alecrim Eco Suites" on the Portuguese coast is laid out around a large natural pond. Surrounded by the native flora and fauna such as cork, olive and pine trees. Many birds - even owls and flamingos - can be seen here.
Each of the 45 different accommodations has its own spacious terrace with a panoramic view of the lush nature or the impressive starry sky. The buildings have been carefully integrated into nature. With the comfort of a home or hotel room to choose from, there are different types of accommodation such as cottages, domes, safari tents and eco-suites. The interiors of all buildings are kept in natural colors and decorated with economical decorative objects made of wood, which have been designed by local artists. The kitchens offer every comfort and the basics for cooking. Surrounded by chirping crickets and the rushing wind, this is a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries.
The proximity to the kilometer-long sandy beach, the bathing opportunities in the infinity pool, the heated pool under one of the domes and the large natural pond ensure hours of relaxation. In addition, you can explore nature on horseback or have a sensational meal in the two restaurants on site, which offer both pizza and regional specialties from the grill. The resort has its own herb garden, vegetable patches and vineyards. Incidentally, in Portugal they say "Saúde!" (Health) when they clink glasses - and it fits particularly well here.

ArchitectureThe facility has existed for over ten years and is constantly being expanded and modernized with regard to environmentally friendly criteria.
FoodOnly regional, seasonal, organic products are used and cooked according to the Slow Food criteria. The Georgia pizza with nuts, mozzarella, spinach, egg and goat cheese is particularly popular – with or without ham.
EnvironmentIn the restaurant, they try to conserve resources according to the zero waste principle, but if anything is left, it is composted. The water is cleaned without chemicals and all vehicles are electric vehicles.
Well-BeingThere is an outdoor infinity pool, a heated indoor pool and a swimming pond. Meditation and yoga classes are offered on site. It is also possible to book massages.
Meaning ‘rosemary’, Alecrim is a glamping boutique designed for anyone who loves being at one with nature and to hear her sounds. It’s set by a lake with villas boasting eco and sustainable architecture. From the driveway, lunar-like pod shapes appeared suddenly into view. My jumbo-sized, environmentally-friendly mushroom of a suite had a wooden sun deck, fun steps to ascend, and décor that was brand new and had excellent finishing. And it was bang next to a giant indoor-heated pool.
Between the beaches at Comporta and the northern edge of the Costa Vicentina, Reserva Alecrim lies slightly inland but on top of a hill with sea views. The eco-suites/glamping resort sits amid cork oaks, olive and pine trees near and the Santo André Lagoon nature reserve, with meadows and beaches nearby. Accommodation is in swishly furnished domes (on five-metre high platforms), eco-pods, safari tents and little wooden houses. There’s an infinity pool, a “bio” pool with lily pads and other plantlife, a playground and a “sunset lounge and pizza bar”.

From Lisbon it takes about 1.5 hours by car to get to the accommodation (141 km). From Faro you drive about 2 hours (203 km) and from Porto you need almost 4 hours (414 km). The exact address can be found on the website.
There is a bus connection from Lisbon to Santiago do Cacém. Since the Reserva Alecrim is a bit out of town, you have to take a taxi for the last few kilometers.
