Boutique Hotel & Retreat Center Rancho Los Lobos

Jimena de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain

Thanks to the protected and varied nature around Rancho Los Lobos, you can enjoy a special feeling of tranquility here. A total of two hectares of untouched nature surround the house. From the windows you can see the romantic inner courtyard, the horse paddock or the varied gardens with old trees. The rooms are arranged around the inner courtyard, which makes the complex feel very sheltered, warm and stylish.

Barbara and Karl have lived here since 2018. The hotel is over 120 years old and first opened as a hotel in 1982. Previously it served as an inn, which many travelers passed by. Since the village is not particularly large, everyone knew this "Venta". The place has a very special magic that the hosts felt immediately on their first visit. The tingling in her stomach made her buy it, even though the hotel was in dire need of renovation.

Guests are personally welcomed here and can look forward to a special holiday experience away from mass tourism in Andalusia. Guests are treated like friends and are happy to be taken to their favorite bar. It also happens that Karl cooks for her individually.

All rooms are individually furnished and all furniture was deliberately selected in antique shops or at flea markets. The result is a furnishing mix of retro and shabby, which is complemented with modern, handmade cement tiles and designer lamps.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe structure of the house is over 120 years old. Wherever possible, natural stone was used. The conversion and renovation took place with companies from the region. In some cases, materials from old houses could be reused. The thatched roofs were made locally. The tiny house was built exclusively from environmentally friendly materials, such as ecological clay plaster.

FoodIn the kitchen, only vegetarian and vegan dishes are offered according to the slow food principle, most of which come from the hotel's own garden. Everything that grows in the garden and is not used immediately is boiled down. If certain foods or vegetables are missing for the preparation of dishes, the employees who also have their own vegetable gardens are asked first. The honey comes from the nature park. Incompatibilities can always be taken into account.

All employees live in the village. If the guests are cooking, the employees are always invited to eat with them. Once a year the hosts:in organize a pool party for the whole team. The hosts are involved in the local environmental association "EcoSystemArte", for example in tree planting campaigns and organizing garbage collection campaigns. They also support a small sponsorship project (NGUVU Edu Sport) in Togo and Kenya.

EnvironmentThe house uses solar power and is equipped with energy-saving lamps. The toilets have an economy flush and the taps have a special aerator that significantly reduces water consumption. Garbage is separated in the kitchen. The chickens get the organic waste. The vegetable garden is fertilized with the horse manure. The accommodation is cleaned with biological means. The room folders contain the concerns and the vision of the hosts on the subject of the environment. This is particularly important to them as the accommodation is located in a nature park.

Well-BeingHealing Retreats take place from May to November in the period from full moon to new moon. The retreats are accompanied by the naturopath and homeopath Clemens Hart. In addition, a kinesiologist is on site and accompanies and rounds off the holistic treatment for body, mind and soul with psychokinesiology. A medically sound program is paired with spiritual therapies such as singing bowls, yoga, ecstatic dance, the cocoa ceremony and specialist lectures on selected topics.
