Piazza San Pantaleo

Sorso, Sardinia, Italy

Nestled in the heart of a historic square in northern Sardinia lies Piazza San Pantaleo, a place where the authentic everyday life of a small town is still palpable. Away from the main tourist crowds, a tranquil and genuine atmosphere unfolds here. Three interconnected buildings form the core of Domo Piazza San Pantaleo, blending seamlessly into the existing townscape.

Giovanni and Cristina personally welcome their guests and, over the years, have created a house steeped in character and history. The meticulous restoration spanned more than 25 years and was carried out step by step by the owners themselves. The focus was always on respecting the existing structure: doors, floors, and numerous traces of the past were preserved, uncovered, and carefully maintained.

No two rooms are alike. Instead of a uniform design, a highly personal mix of historical elements and individual details has been created, giving each room its own unique atmosphere. As a result, the house doesn't feel staged, but rather organically grown – with a truly distinctive character.

When the sun lingers over northern Sardinia, breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the sea. Giovanni and Cristina take their time, transforming the morning into a mini culinary journey through the region, including personal tips for local discoveries.

Sustainable

Architecture

The buildings were meticulously restored in accordance with historic preservation guidelines, with the original character consistently preserved. Many historical elements that had been obscured or damaged over time were uncovered and carefully restored, including original floors, ceilings, and staircases. Great emphasis was also placed on quality and compatibility with the existing structure when furnishing the buildings: complementary pieces of furniture were either custom-made or carefully selected to blend harmoniously with the historical fabric. Furthermore, conscious attention was paid to regional and local origins in the materials used.

Food

The products offered are carefully selected from local producers, with origin playing a central role. Many dishes are also made on-site: homemade cakes, yogurt, and jams are a given. Individual dietary needs are also catered for. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available, as well as options for special dietary requirements or intolerances, ensuring guests are flexible and well-served.

Environment

Waste separation is mandatory in the village, and guests are actively encouraged to use the existing systems. Hot water is supplied by an energy-efficient system, and all taps are equipped with flow restrictors to reduce consumption. Energy-saving lighting is also a priority. Furthermore, the installation of a photovoltaic system is planned for the near future to make the energy supply even more sustainable. Cleaning products are also chosen with a focus on minimizing the use of chemicals and using environmentally friendly alternatives.
